The composition and form of issue:
1 ml for intranasal use in the form of a spray contain Xylometazoline hydrochloride 1 mg in vials of 10 ml with spray head, in a box 1 vial.
1 ml of nasal drops for kids 0.5 mg in vials-droppers of 10 ml.
Pharmacological action:
Stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors, constricts blood vessels and reduces the swelling of the nasal mucosa and upper respiratory tract. The local application does not irritate the mucous membrane and does not cause hyperemia.
Indications:
Acute rhinitis, including when colds and viral diseases of the upper respiratory tract sinusitis, evstahiit, otitis media conduction of diagnostic procedures (for vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosa).
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity, atrophic rhinitis, increased inner pressure zakratougolnaya glaucoma, transsphenoidal hypophysectomy or surgery exposing the Dura mater in anamnesis, arterial hypertension, arteriosclerosis expressed, tachycardia, ray, diabetes mellitus, pheochromocytoma, difficulty in urination associated with prostatic hyperplasia, children's age (up to 12 years for spray and up to 2 years for drops).
Application of pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Perhaps if the expected effect therapy outweighs the potential risk to mother and fetus.
Side effects:
Burning sensation, dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing and in rare cases — tachycardia, increased blood pressure very rarely — anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, headache, nausea.
Drug interactions:
Incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
Method of application and dose:
The intranasal route. Spray: adults and children over 12 years — 1 spray into each nostril up to 4 times a day.
Drops: children 2 to 12 years — on 1-2 drops in each nostril 1-2 times (max 3). The duration of the application — no more than 3-5 days.
Precautions:
Avoid prolonged use and overdose (possible weakening of, damage to, inhibition of activity or atrophy of the mucous membrane, reactive hyperemia).
May reduce the ability to operate vehicles or equipment requiring a high concentration.
