Description pharmaceutical form:
The tablets are biconvex, round shaped, film-coated white or almost white.
Pharmacokinetics:
Magnesium absorption from the digestive tract is 50% of the oral dose.
It is excreted mainly through the kidneys. In the kidneys after glomerular filtration 70% is present in plasma magnesium, it is reabsorbed in the renal tubules in a proportion of 95-97%.
Description pharmacological action:
Compensates for a deficiency of magnesium.
Magnesium is a vital element that is present in all body tissues and are necessary for normal functioning of cells. Involved in most metabolic reactions, regulation of nerve impulse transmission and muscle contraction, has antispasmodic, antiarrhythmic and antiplatelet effect.
The body gets magnesium from food. The lack of magnesium in the body may be in violation of the diet (diet) or by increasing the need for magnesium (for increased physical and mental load, stress, pregnancy, use of diuretics).
Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is involved in many metabolic processes in the regulation of metabolism of the nervous system. Vitamin B6 improves magnesium absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and its penetration into cells.
The magnesium content in the serum:
- from 12 to 17 mg/l (0, 5-07 mmol/l) suggests moderate deficiency of magnesium
- below 12 mg/l (0, 5 mmol/l) indicates severe magnesium deficiency.
Indications:
Established magnesium deficiency, isolated or associated with other deficiency conditions.
Contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to the drug
- expressed kidney failure (Cl creatinine <30 ml/min)
- phenylketonuria
- children up to 6 years.
Caution: in moderate renal insufficiency, because there is a risk of gipermagniemii.
Application of pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Pregnancy. Clinical experience has not identified fetotoksicheskoe or causing developmental defects of the fetus action. The magnelis B6 can be used during pregnancy only as directed by your doctor.
Lactation. Magnesium passes into breast milk. Avoid the use of the drug in lactation and breastfeeding.
Side effects:
On the part of the digestive tract: abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, flatulence.
Allergic reactions: possible allergic reactions to the drug components.
Drug interactions:
Simultaneous use of preparations containing phosphates or calcium salts, can greatly reduce magnesium absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.
The drugs magnesium reduce the absorption of tetracycline, it is recommended to divide the dose in a three-hour interval.
Magnesium reduces the effect of oral thrombolytic funds reduces the absorption of iron.
Vitamin B6 inhibits the activity of levodopa.
Method of application and dose:
Before receiving the drug you should consult with your doctor.
Adults are recommended to take 6-8 of the table. a day.
Children over 6 years (body weight >20 kg) table 4-6. a day.
The daily dose should be divided into 2-3 doses, take with meals with a large glass of water.
Treatment should be discontinued after normalization of the concentration of magnesium in the blood.
Overdose:
In normal renal function oral administration of magnesium does not cause toxic reactions. Poisoning magnesium may develop in renal failure. Toxic effects mainly depend on the content of magnesium in the blood serum.
Symptoms: drop in blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, slow reflexes, anuria, respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest.
Treatment: rehydration, forced diuresis. In renal failure required hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
Precautions:
Information for diabetics: the tablets contain sucrose as excipients.
In case of concomitant calcium deficiency, magnesium deficiency should be corrected before the start of supplementation.
Frequent use of laxatives, alcohol, intense physical and mental stress need for magnesium increases, which can lead to the development of magnesium deficiency in the body.
