Description

A clear, colorless liquid.

Pharmacodynamics

Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid formed in the body during the conversion of cysteine.

Anti-cataract agent, has a metabolic effect. It stimulates the processes of repair and regeneration in diseases of a dystrophic nature and diseases accompanied by a sharp violation of the metabolism of eye tissues.

It helps to normalize the functions of cell membranes, activate energy and metabolic processes, preserve the electrolyte composition of the cytoplasm due to the accumulation of K+ and Ca2+, and improve the conditions for conducting nerve impulses.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, systemic absorption is low.

Indications for use

The drug is used as part of complex therapy.

Corneal dystrophy, cataracts (senile, diabetic, traumatic, radiation), corneal injury (as a stimulator of reparative processes).

Primary open-angle glaucoma (in combination with beta blockers (to improve the outflow of intraocular fluid)).

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity, children's age (up to 18 years).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Prescribing the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible only if the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus or child.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible.

If the side effects listed in the instructions worsen, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Interaction

In patients with open-angle glaucoma, there was a significant increase in the hypotensive effect of blockers (butylaminohydroxypropoxyphenoxymethyl methyloxadiazole or gimolol maleate) when combined with taurine.

The effect is enhanced by increasing the coefficient of ease of outflow and reducing the production of watery moisture.

Method of administration and dosage

Locally. The drug is used in the form of instillations.

For cataracts, 1-2 drops 2-4 times a day for 3 months. The course is repeated at monthly intervals.

For injuries and dystrophic diseases of the cornea, it is used in the same doses for 1 month.

For open-angle glaucoma (in combination with butylaminohydroxypropoxyphenoxymethyl methyloxadiazole or timolol maleate), 1-2 drops 2 times a day 15-20 minutes before the appointment of one of the local antihypertensive agents, for 6 weeks, followed by withdrawal for 2 weeks.

How to use the dropper tube:

1. Separate one dropper tube, put the rest back into the package.

2. Open the dropper tube (after making sure that the solution is in the bottom of the dropper tube, rotate and separate the valve).

3. Drip the required amount of the drug into the eyes.

The dose contained in the dropper tube is sufficient for one instillation into both eyes.

4. Close the dropper tube with the valve.

An opened dropper tube can be stored for 1 month, then the dropper tube should be discarded.

The procedure for handling the bottle:

1. Open the bottle by rotating it counterclockwise and remove the cap.

2. Carefully, without touching the tip of the bottle with your fingers, turn the bottle over and fix it between the thumb and forefinger of one hand.

3. Tilt your head back, place the tip of the vial over your eye and pull the lower eyelid down with the index finger of your other hand. Lightly press on the vial and drip the required amount of the drug into the conjunctival sac of the eye. It is necessary to avoid contact of the tip of the open vial with the surface of the eye and hands.

4. After use, put the cap on the bottle and close it with clockwise rotating movements.

After opening the bottle, the drug can be used for 1 month. After this period, the drug should be discarded.

If the vial is visibly damaged, the drug should not be used.

Overdose

There is no data on overdose.

Special instructions

If it is necessary to use other ophthalmic medicines at the same time (eye drops, etc.), the interval between the use of taurine and other drugs should be at least 10-15 minutes.

The preservative contained in the preparation can have an irritating effect on the eye when wearing contact lenses, therefore, any contact lenses should be removed before instillation and put on no earlier than 15 minutes after it.
