I. GENERAL INFORMATION

The trade name of the medicinal product: Marfloxin 2% solution for injection.

International nonproprietary name of the active substance: Marbofloxacin.

Dosage form: solution for injection.

Marfloxin 2% solution for injection contains as the active substance of marbofloxacin 20 mg, and as auxiliary substances: gluconolactone — 16 mg, disodium edetate — 0.10 mg, mannitol 30 mg, metacresol 2 mg, monothioglycerol — 0.5 mg, water for injection to 1.0 ml.

Marfloxin 2% solution for injection is a clear solution from greenish — yellow to brown — yellow.

The drug is produced packaged in 20 ml, 50 ml, 100 ml in hermetically sealed bottles of dark glass, sealed with rubber stoppers and rolled with aluminum caps and placed in cardboard boxes with instructions for use.

Shelf life of the drug under storage conditions-3 years from the date of production. After opening the bottle, the drug should be used within 28 days. Do not use the drug after the expiration date.

Store the drug in a closed original packaging, separate from food and feed, in a place protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature of 5°C to 25°C. do not freeze!

Keep the drug should be in places inaccessible to children.

Unused product is disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.

II. PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Marfloxin 2% solution for injections belongs to antibiotics of fluoroquinolone group.

The drug has a wide range of bactericidal action, based on the suppression of bacterial enzymes of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, involved in the replication of DNA microorganisms. After intramuscular and subcutaneous administration of the drug at a dose of 2 mg/kg, marbofloxacin is well absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into most organs and tissues of the body. The bioavailability of marbofloxacin is almost 100%. The maximum concentration of marbofloxacin, about 0.5 µg / ml in piglets and 1 µg/ml in calves, in plasma is achieved in 0.5-1.5 hours. The maximum concentration of marbofloxacin in blood plasma in dogs and cats with subcutaneous use of the drug is 1.5 µg/ml with the introduction of 2 mg/kg and 3 µg/ml — with the introduction of 4 mg/kg.Marbofloxacin weakly binds to plasma proteins: in pigs, dogs and cats — 10%, in cattle — 30%. The concentration of marbofloxacin in the organs is higher than the concentration in blood plasma. The half-life in calves is 5-9 hours, in cattle with scar digestion — 4 — 7 hours, in pigs 8-10 hours, in dogs and cats - 13 hours. Marbofloxacin is excreted from the animal body mainly unchanged in the urine and faeces.

Marbofloxacin 2% solution for injection according to the degree of impact on the body refers to low-risk substances.

Marbofloxacin, the active ingredient Marfloxin 2% solution for injection is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including , including Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Citrobacter freundii, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Morganella morganii, Proteus spp, Klebsiella spp. Shigella spp, Pasteurella spp, Haemophilus spp, Moraxella spp, Pseudomonas spp, Brucella canis, Staphylococci, Streptococci, and Mycoplasma spp.

III. THE ORDER OF APPLICATION OF VETERINARY DRUGS

Marfloxin 2% solution for injection is used to treat pigs and young cattle for diseases of the respiratory organs of pigs with MMA syndrome and other diseases caused by sensitive marbofloxacin strains of microorganisms. The drug is used to treat infected wounds, abscesses, prevention of wound infections in surgical interventions in dogs and cats, infections of the urinary system in dogs.

Contraindications to the use of the drug Marfloxin 2% solution for inyati is increased individual animal sensitivity to the preparation components. The drug is not recommended for animals with lesions of the Central nervous system, in the case of resistance of the pathogen to other fluoroquinolones, as well as puppies of large breeds of dogs up to 18 months of age, other breeds of dogs-up to 12 months of age.

The drug is used in animals once a day, calves-subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously, pigs — intramuscularly, in a daily dose of 2 mg/kg of animal weight on the active substance (1 ml of the drug per 10 kg).For the treatment of wound infections and abscesses in dogs the drug is administered subcutaneously once at a dose of 2 mg/kg (1 ml per 10 kg of animal weight), then the treatment continues with the use of Marfloxin tablets. In the treatment of urinary tract infections in dogs, used at a dose of 4 mg/kg (2 ml per 10 kg of animal weight) subcutaneously once a day. Enter the drug three times at intervals of 4 days.To prevent wound infections and abscesses in surgical interventions in dogs and cats, the drug is administered at a dose of 2 mg/kg intravenously once immediately after surgery.

For the treatment of wound infections and abscesses in cats, the drug is used subcutaneously once a day at a dose of 2 mg/kg (0.5 ml of the drug per 5 kg of animal weight). The duration of administration is from 3 to 5 days.

The duration of treatment of young cattle and pigs is from 3 to 5 days.

In case of overdose in animals may experience disorders of the nervous system. Treatment is symptomatic. Cats and dogs may have symptoms of bradycardia.

Specific effects of the drug during its first application and cancellation have not been identified.

Studies in laboratory animals (rats and rabbits) revealed no teratogenic and embryotoxic effects, as well as negative effects of marbofloxacin on reproductive function in female animals. The drug can be used for pregnant and lactating sows. The possibility to use Marfloxin 2% solution for injections during pregnancy and lactation in dogs and cats is determined by a veterinarian based on the assessment of the ratio of expected benefit to the possible risk from the use of the drug.

You should avoid missing the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. In the case of missing one dose of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.

When using the drug in the recommended zone of side effects in pigs and cattle were not identified. Perhaps the appearance of an inflammatory reaction at the site of administration of the drug. In the event of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is stopped and antihistamines are prescribed to the animal; if necessary, symptomatic treatment is carried out.

Not recommended for use Marfloxin 2% solution for injection simultaneously with chloramphenicol, macrolide antibiotics and tetracycline.

Slaughter of cattle for meat is allowed no earlier than 4 days , pigs — 3 days after the last use of the drug. Meat from animals slaughtered before the expiration of the specified term, may be used as feed for fur animals.

IV. PERSONAL PREVENTION MEASURES

People with hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones should avoid direct contact with the drug.
