Diarkan - a briquette (in the form of a sugar cube) for oral use for the treatment of enteritis of bacterial etiology in dogs and cats. In appearance, the Diarkan is a sugar cube with a dividing groove in the middle of a light pink color.
STRUCTURE
Diarkan as active substances in 1 briquette contains: sulfaguanidine - 300 mg, benzonaphthol - 100 mg and ratania extract - 50 mg, and as an auxiliary substance sucrose-up to 8 g.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Diarkan refers to combined antibacterial drugs. Sulfaguanidine, which is part of the drug, has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and salmonella, like other sulfonamides, is a competitive antagonist of paraaminobenzoic acid, prevents the formation of tetrahydrofolic acid, which in turn disrupts the formation of purine and pyrimidine bases.
With oral administration, sulfaguanidine is practically not absorbed, creating high bacteriostatic concentrations in the intestine. It is excreted from the body mostly unchanged with feces.
Benzonaphthol breaks down in the intestine into benzoic acid and-naphthol, which have an antiseptic effect, are excreted in the urine and feces.
The extract of the medicinal plant ratania has an enveloping effect and prevents the absorption of toxins into the blood.
According to the degree of exposure to the body, Diarkan belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).

Diarkan is used in dogs and cats for the treatment of enteritis of bacterial etiology caused by microorganisms sensitive to sulfaguanidine and benzonaphthol.
