Expiration date: 01/2026

DESCRIPTION

Amoxisan is a suspension for injection for the treatment of diseases of bacterial etiology in animals. In appearance, the drug is a suspension of white to light yellow color.

STRUCTURE

Amoxisan in 1 ml as an active substance contains amoxicillin trihydrate-150 mg, as well as excipients: methylparaben-1 mg, propylparaben-0.4 mg, sorbitan monooleate-10.3 mg, aerosil-4 mg and medium chain triglycerides-up to 1 ml.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Amoxisan belongs to the antibacterial drugs of the penicillin series.

Amoxicillin trihydrate, which is part of the drug, is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including Actynomyces spp., Bacillus antracis, Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Actinobacillus spp., Escherichia coli. Salmonella spp., Fusobacterium spp., Haemophilus spp., Moraxella spp., Pasteurella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Leptospira spp.

The mechanism of the antibacterial action of amoxicillin is the suppression of the functional activity of bacterial enzymes trans peptidases involved in the binding of the main component of the cell wall of microorganisms — peptidglycan.

Amoxicillin trihydrate is easily absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into most organs and tissues of the animal. The maximum concentration of the antibiotic in the blood is noted after 1-2 hours and is maintained at the therapeutic level for at least 48 hours after parenteral administration of the drug.

The antibiotic is excreted from the body mainly in unchanged form, mainly with urine, to a lesser extent with bile, in lactating animals-partially with milk.

According to the degree of exposure to the body, Amoxisan belongs to moderately dangerous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it is well tolerated by animals, does not have embryotoxic, teratogenic and hepatotoxic properties.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Amoxisan is prescribed for therapeutic purposes to cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats for infectious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, genitourinary system, joints, soft tissues and skin, necrobacteriosis, umbilical infections, atrophic rhinitis, mastitis-metritis-agalactia syndrome and other primary and secondary infections of bacterial etiology, the pathogens of which are sensitive to amoxicillin.

Amoxisan is administered to animals subcutaneously or intramuscularly once at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of animal weight (15 mg of the active substance per 1 kg of animal weight), if necessary, the injection is repeated after 48 hours.

Before use, the bottle with the drug should be thoroughly shaken.

The maximum volume of the drug for administration in one place should not exceed for cattle-20 ml, pigs, sheep, calves-5 ml. dogs-2.5 ml and cats-1 ml.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

In case of an overdose of the drug in an animal, the following symptoms are possible: refusal to feed, vomiting, impaired coordination of movements.

Features of the action at the first use of the drug and at its cancellation were not revealed.

Amoxisan is usually used once.

If repeated administration of the drug is necessary, do not increase the 48-hour interval, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic effectiveness.

Amoxisan should not be used simultaneously with thiamphenicol, chloramphenicol. antibiotics of the penicillin group, cephalosporins and fluoroquinolones, as well as mix in one syringe with other drugs.

Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 28 days after the last use of Amoxisan.

The meat of animals forcibly killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used as food for fur-bearing animals.

Milk of dairy animals is allowed to be used for food purposes, not earlier than 96 hours after the last administration of the drug.

Milk obtained earlier than the specified period can be used after boiling in animal feed.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Contraindications to the use of Amoxisan are hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug and antibiotics of the penicillin group, as well as severe disorders of the liver and/or kidneys. It is forbidden to use the drug to newborn animals, rabbits and guinea pigs.

SIDE EFFECTS

When using Amoxisan in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications are usually not observed.

In rare cases, the animal may develop edema at the injection site, which resolves spontaneously within 1-2 days.

With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to antibiotics of the penicillin group and the development of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is discontinued and desensitizing therapy is performed.
