Senna leaves contain anthraglycosides (glucoaloemodin, glucorein, sennosides A and B), flavonoids, resinous substances, mucus, macro - and microelements and other biologically active substances.

Pharmacological action

A decoction of senna leaves has a laxative effect. The therapeutic effect develops in 8-12 hours after taking the drug.

Indications

  • Chronic constipation.
  • Regulation of the stool for hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the drug.
  • Intestinal obstruction.
  • Abdominal pain of unknown origin.
  • Violations of water and electrolyte metabolism.
  • Acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity.
  • Proctitis and hemorrhoids (acute phase).
  • Pinched hernia.
  • Bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Uterine bleeding.
  • Cystitis.
  • Spastic colitis.
  • Pregnancy.
  • Children under 12 years of age.

Method of administration and dosage

About 10g (2 tablespoons) of raw materials are placed in an enameled dish, pour 200ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, close the lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, then continue to insist at room temperature until completely cooled, filter, the remaining raw materials are squeezed out. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.

Do they accept software ? a glass in the evening after eating. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. Before use, it is recommended to shake the broth.

Special instructions

With prolonged use of senna leaves, addiction can develop, so it is advisable to alternate their use with other laxatives. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.

Drug interaction

Senna preparations reduce the adsorption of tetracycline.

Storage conditions

Store in a dry, dark place. The finished broth should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.
