Pharmacological action
Oxoline ointment - antiviral agent for topical use. It shows a virucidal effect on influenza virus through direct contact with virusdatabase material, prevents virus replication in cells.
When applied to the mucous membranes, the drug does not have a resorptive toxic and locally irritating effect.
Indications
Viral eye diseases, viral rhinitis. Prevention of influenza.
Dosage and administration
Locally.
Prevention of influenza: a strip of ointment with a length of 3 to 5 mm is lubricated daily 2-3 times a day the mucous membrane of the nose during the rise and maximum development of an epidemic outbreak of influenza (for 25 days) or in contact with a patient with influenza.
Treatment of viral rhinitis: a strip of ointment with a length of 3 to 5 mm lubricate the nasal mucosa 2-3 times a day for 3-4 days.
Viral eye diseases: a strip of ointment with a length of 2 to 3 mm is laid for the lower eyelid 3-4 times a day. When combined with other local antiviral therapy, the ointment is laid with a strip from 2 to 3 mm for the lower eyelid at night.
Dosage regimens in children and adults do not differ.
