The respiratory system includes nasal passages, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs and pleura. Its functioning is regulated by Central and humoral influences. Central formations that control breathing are localized in the oblong brain (respiratory center).

Pathology of this system is very diverse and is a consequence of anatomical and physiological changes of respiratory organs, or violations of regulatory mechanisms (cellular, hormonal, nervous).
