DESCRIPTION
Polyvak-TM vaccine against equine dermatomycosis. In appearance, it is a homogeneous liquid of light brown color with a thin sediment on the bottom, which disappears when shaken.
STRUCTURE
The vaccine contains inactivated production strains of fungi from the genus Trichophyton and Microsporum.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Immunity in vaccinated animals occurs 20 to 30 days after the second vaccination and persists for at least 12 months from the first administration of the vaccine. In weak, emaciated horses that have a metabolic disorder and are affected by ectoparasites, the preventive and therapeutic effectiveness of the vaccine is reduced.
INDICATIONS
Assign horses for the prevention and treatment of dermatomycosis.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Horses begin to be vaccinated from the age of 3 months. For prophylactic and therapeutic purposes, the vaccine is administered intramuscularly into the neck or chest muscles in a dose of 0.5 ml. Before use, the vials with the vaccine are thoroughly shaken. For preventive purposes, only clinically healthy animals are vaccinated twice with an interval between injections of 10-14 days. When using the vaccine for therapeutic purposes, double and triple administration of the vaccine is used at intervals of 10-14 days. The skin at the injection site is disinfected with 70 % ethyl alcohol or 0.5 % carbolic acid solution. Syringes and needles are sterilized by boiling before use, and a separate needle is used to vaccinate each animal. To accelerate the rejection of crusts, the affected areas of the skin are recommended to be treated with softening agents — fish oil, lanolin, vaseline and other mineral or vegetable oils used in medicine and veterinary medicine. All equine populations should be clinically examined prior to the use of the vaccine. Given that the introduction of the vaccine to animals in the incubation period of the disease accelerates the clinical manifestation of dermatomycosis, it is necessary to carry out general vaccination in therapeutic doses in nurseries and other enterprises that are not affected by dermatomycosis.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
No special precautions are provided.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
It is not allowed to vaccinate animals with high fever and patients with infectious diseases.
SIDE EFFECTS
When vaccinating healthy horses, there are no changes in the clinical condition. In some individuals, there is a slight swelling and inflammation at the site of administration of the vaccine, which spontaneously disappears without medical intervention after 3-4 days. When vaccinating animals that are in the incubation period of the disease, vaccination accelerates the manifestation of the clinical picture of dermatomycosis with the appearance of multiple foci of a superficial nature. Animals that have shown clinical signs of the disease should be given a therapeutic dose of the vaccine, and in particularly severe cases, the vaccine should be administered 3-4 times.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
In a dry place, out of the reach of children and animals, at a temperature of 2 to 10 ° C. The shelf life of the vaccine is 18 months from the date of manufacture, subject to storage conditions in the original packaging. In the absence of labeling, violation of the integrity of the vials, color changes, the presence of non-breaking flakes, foreign impurities, the vials with the vaccine are decontaminated by boiling for 15 minutes.
PACKAGING
They are produced in hermetically sealed vials or ampoules containing 1 dose (1 dose is 0.6 ml).
