DESCRIPTION
Enroxil 5% is an antibacterial drug for small cattle, calves, pigs and dogs. In appearance, it is a clear solution of light yellow color for internal use.
STRUCTURE
The solution as an active substance in 1 ml contains 0.05 g of enrofloxacin, as well as auxiliary components.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
The active substance of the drug – fluoroquinolone (enrofloxacin) has an antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including strains of Escherichia spp., Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pseudomonas spp., Bordetella spp., Campylobacter spp., Corynebacterium spp., Proteus spp., Mycoplasma spp., Haemophilus spp. The mechanism of action of the drug is based on its ability to inhibit the activity of the gyrase enzyme involved in the replication of the DNA helix in the nucleus of a bacterial cell. After parenteral administration, enrofloxacin is well absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body. The maximum concentration of enrofloxacin in the blood plasma is reached in 1-1. 5 hours after the injection of the drug, the therapeutic concentration is maintained for 24 hours. It is mainly excreted unchanged in the urine and bile. According to the degree of exposure to the body of warm-blooded animals, the drug belongs to low-risk substances and in the recommended doses does not have a local irritant, resorptive-toxic, allergizing and sensitizing effect.
INDICATIONS
It is prescribed to small cattle, calves, pigs and dogs in the complex therapy of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to enrofloxacin, including colibacteriosis, salmonellosis, enzootic pneumonia, mastitis-metritis-agalactia, streptococcosis, mycoplasmosis, urogenital infections.
APPLICATION
Enroxil 5% solution is administered to pigs intramuscularly, to other animals-subcutaneously at a dose of 0.5 ml per 10 kg of weight (2.5 mg of enrofloxacin per 1 kg of weight), for salmonellosis and respiratory infections at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of animal weight (5 mg of enrofloxacin per 1 kg of weight). For dogs, the drug is prescribed subcutaneously at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of weight (5 mg of enrofloxacin per 1 kg of weight). The drug is prescribed once a day to farm animals for 3-5 days, dogs for 5-10 days.
The maximum amount of the drug for injection in one place for large animals is not more than 5 ml, for small animals-2.5 ml.
SIDE EFFECTS
In some cases, with increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug or violation of the order of administration and dosage, allergic reactions, changes in appetite and diarrhea may occur. When these signs appear, the use of the drug is discontinued and desensitizing therapy is performed.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Increased individual sensitivity of animals to fluoroquinolones. It is not recommended to use dairy animals whose milk is used for food purposes. The drug is not prescribed to pregnant animals suffering from liver and kidney diseases. Enrofloxacin is not used in combination with levomycetin, macrolides and tetracyclines.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Slaughter of productive animals for meat is allowed 14 days after the last injection of the drug. Slaughter products obtained from animals that were forcibly killed before the expiration of the period specified in the instructions can be used for feeding carnivorous animals or for the production of meat and bone meal.
STORAGE
In a dry place, protected from light and inaccessible to children and animals, separate from food and feed at a temperature of 5°C to 25°C. Shelf life – 3 years.
