Pharmacological action
Artaxan is an effective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic and less pronounced antipyretic effect. The properties of the drug due to inhibition of both isoforms of the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which leads to disruption of metabolism of arachidonic acid and blockade of prostaglandin synthesis.
The anti-inflammatory effect is due to a decrease in capillary permeability (limits exudation), stabilization of lysosomal membranes (prevents the release of lysosomes enzymes that cause tissue damage), inhibition of synthesis or inactivation of inflammatory mediators (prostaglandins, histamine, bradykin, lymphokines, complement factors). Reduces the amount of free radicals in inflammation, inhibits chemotaxis and phagocytosis. Inhibits the proliferative phase of inflammation, reduces post-inflammatory tissue sclerosis; has a chondroprotective effect.
The drug reduces pain sensitivity in the focus of inflammation and acts on the thalamic centers of pain, has a desensitizing effect (with prolonged use). In rheumatic diseases reduces pain in the joints at rest and when moving, reduces morning stiffness and swelling of the joints, improves function and increases the volume of joint movements.
Pharmacokinetics
Has a long half-life of 60-75 h. Easily passes through gistogematicalkie barriers, penetrates well into synovial fluid. Is characterized by a high bioavailability of 100%.
