Memantine Canon of tablets, coated 

1 tablet film-coated contains:

active substance: memantine hydrochloride 10 mg,

excipients: silica colloidal anhydrous (Aerosil) 3 mg, calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate is 50.4 mg, croscarmellose sodium (Primerose) 3 mg, lactose monohydrate (milk sugar) 136 mg magnesium stearate 1.6 mg, povidone 6 mg

the composition of the shell: Select AQ-02003 6 mg, including: hypromellose (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) 3.6 mg, macrogol-6000 (polyethylene glycol 6000) 1.2 mg, titanium dioxide 1.2 mg., in a package of 30 and 90 capsules

Pharmacological action:

Memantine Canon is a muscle relaxant of Central action. Being a non-competitive antagonist of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, exerts a modulatory action on glutamatergic system. Regulates ion transport, blocks the calcium channels normalizes the membrane potential, improves the process of transmission of nerve impulses, improves cognitive processes, memory and learning ability, increases daily activity.

Testimony

Dementia Alzheimer's type, vascular dementia, mixed dementia of all degrees of severity.

Loss of memory, concentration and learning abilities.

Cerebral and spinal spastic syndrome, including as a result of traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke.

Contraindications:

Individual hypersensitivity to the drug, pronounced renal dysfunction, pregnancy, breastfeeding. 

Be wary appoint patients with thyrotoxicosis, epilepsy.

Method of application and doses

Memantine Canon is taken orally, during meals. The dosage regimen set individually. To start treatment with the appointment of the minimum effective dose. 

Adults with dementia during the 1st weeks of therapy in the dose of 5 mg/day, 2 weeks — at a dose of 10 mg/day, 3 weeks in a dose of 15-20 mg/day. If necessary, may further increase weekly dose by 10 mg until a daily dose of 30 mg. 

The optimal dose is achieved gradually, with increasing doses each week.

Side effects:

Dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, irritability, nausea, feeling of "heaviness" in the head.

Drug interactions

In concurrent usage with barbiturates, neuroleptics, antiholinergicakih funds, the latter may increase. In a joint application may change (increase or decrease) the action dantrolene or baclofen, so doses should be selected individually.

Overdose: 

Symptoms: increased severity of side effects. 

Treatment: gastric lavage, reception activated carbon, symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions

At temperatures above 25°C in places inaccessible to children.
