Pharmachologic effect

Octolipen - metabolic means, is an endogenous antioxidant, binding free radicals.

Thioctic acid is formed in the body from the oxidative decarboxylation of alpha-keto acids. As coenzyme mitochondrial multienzyme complexes involved in the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvic acid and alpha-keto acids.

Octolipen reduces blood glucose and increased glycogen content in the liver, as well as overcome the insulin resistance. By the nature of the biochemical action of thioctic acid is close to the B vitamins involved in the regulation of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, stimulates cholesterol metabolism, improves liver function.

Octolipen has hepatoprotective, hypolipidemic, cholesterol-lowering, the hypoglycemic effect. Improves trophic neurons and axonal conduction, reduces the manifestations of diabetic and alcoholic polyneuropathy.

Testimony

  • Diabetic polyneuropathy,
  • Alcoholic polyneuropathy.

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy,
  • The period of breastfeeding,
  • Child and adolescence to 18 years (effectiveness and safety have not been established)
  • Hypersensitivity to Octolipen components.

Dosing and Administration

Octolipen in tablet/capsule form is prescribed orally 600 mg (2 caps.) 1 times / day. Capsules are taken in the morning on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before the first meal, not liquid, squeezed enough water. The duration of oral therapy with a doctor determines.

To prepare the infusion solution 1-2 capsules (300-600 mg) npenapata diluted in 50-250 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride solution. Ready solution is injected into / in the drip. Apply at 300-600 mg 1 time a day for 2-4 weeks. Later transferred to oral therapy. The drug has a sensitivity to light, so the vial should get out of the package just before using. It is advisable during the infusion bottle with a solution to protect From light (you can use the light-protective bags, aluminum foil). The prepared solution must be stored in a dark place and use as much as possible within 6 hours after preparation.

Side effects

From the digestive system: dyspepsia symptoms (including nausea, vomiting, heartburn).

From a metabolism: Symptoms of hypoglycaemia (due to improved glucose uptake).

Allergic reactions: urticaria, systemic allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis).

Special instructions

In patients with diabetes, especially in the early Octolipen treatment requires frequent monitoring of blood glucose concentration. In some cases, a reduction in the dose of hypoglycemic agents.

During treatment should strictly abstain from alcohol, because Ethanol reduces the therapeutic efficacy of thioctic acid.

Drug interactions

While the use of insulin and oral hypoglycemic agents gain hypoglycemic effect is observed.

After a morning reception thioctic acid, iron preparations, magnesium, as well as dairy products (due to the calcium contained in them) are advised to take the afternoon or evening.

Ethanol reduces the therapeutic efficacy of thioctic acid.

Storage conditions

In the dark place at a temperature no higher than 20 ° C.
