Treatment of depression

Composition:

Mirtazapine - 30 or 45 mg, Excipients: corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, mannitol, magnesium stearate, povidone, cellulose, 

Indications:

Antidepressant

Depressive States (including anhedonia, psychomotor retardation, insomnia, early awakening, weight loss, loss of interest in life, suicidal thoughts and mood lability).

Dosage regimen

When administered, the effective dose for adults is 15-45 mg/day, preferably 1 time / day before bedtime. The dose is gradually increased to 30-45 mg / day. The antidepressant effect develops gradually, usually after 2-3 weeks from the beginning of treatment, but the reception should be continued for another 4-6 months. If within 6-8 weeks of treatment there is no therapeutic effect, treatment should be discontinued.

The abolition of mirtazapine is carried out gradually.

Side effect

From the Central and peripheral nervous system: drowsiness, retardation, emotional lability, changes in mentality, agitation, anxiety, apathy, hallucinations, depersonalization, hostility, mania, epileptic seizures, dizziness, vertigo, hyperesthesia, convulsions, tremors, myoclonus, hyperkinesis, hypokinesia.

From the hematopoietic organs: oppression of hematopoiesis-granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis, neutropenia, eosinophilia, aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenia.

From the metabolism: a slight increase in appetite and weight gain; in isolated cases - swelling.

From the cardiovascular system: rarely-orthostatic hypotension.

From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, constipation, increased appetite, weight gain, dry mouth, thirst, abdominal pain; in rare cases - increased activity of liver transaminases.

From the reproductive system: reduced potency, dysmenorrhea.

Other: skin rashes, urticaria, flu-like syndrome, suffocation, edematous syndrome, myalgia, back pain dysuria.

Contraindications to use

  • Renal and hepatic failure, pregnancy, lactation, increased sensitivity to mirtazapine.
  • Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding
  • Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.

Application in violation of liver function

With caution used in patients with impaired liver function.

Use in children

Mirtazapine is not used in children due to the lack of data on the effectiveness and safety of its use in pediatric practice.
