Composition and form of issue:

Dental gel, 1g contains active substance:

metronidazole 10 mg

(in the form of metronidazole benzoate) 

chlorhexidine gluconate 0, 5 mg

(in the form of 20% chlorhexidine gluconate solution) 

excipients: propylene glycol carbomer-940 edetate sodium disodium saccharin sodium levomentol hydroxide water 

in plastic tubes of 5, 10, 20, 30 or 50 g in a box of 1 tube.

Description of dosage form:

Opalescent soft gel of white or almost white color.

Pharmacokinetics:

When applied topically Gel Metrogil dent is practically not absorbed.

Description of pharmacological action:

The effectiveness of the drug is due to the presence in its composition of two antibacterial components:

(a) metronidazole has antibacterial effects against anaerobic bacteria that cause periodontal disease: Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Fusobacterium fusiformis, Wolinella recta, Eikenella corrodens, Borrelia vincenti, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Selenomonas spp.

b) chlorhexidine — antiseptic of a wide range, having a bactericidal effect against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, as well as yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses.

Indications:

Infectious and inflammatory diseases of periodontal and oral mucosa:

• acute and chronic gingivitis
  
• acute ulcerative necrotic gingivitis of Vincent
  
• acute and chronic periodontitis
  
• youthful periodontitis
  
• periodontal disease, acute gingivitis
  
• aphthous stomatitis
  
• cheilitis
  
• inflammation of the mucous membrane of the mouth when wearing dentures
  
• postextractive alveolitis (inflammation of the hole after tooth extraction)
  
• periodontitis, periodontal abscess (as part of combination therapy).
  

Contraindications:

• individual intolerance to metronidazole, chlorhexidine, as well as derivatives of nitroimidazole and any components of the drug
  
• children under 6 years old.
  

Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding:

It is not recommended to prescribe the drug to pregnant women in the I trimester of pregnancy. During lactation should decide on the cessation of breastfeeding.

Side effect:

With the local application of the gel Metrogil dent risk of systemic side effects is small, but sometimes there may be: headache, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria).

Drug interaction:

When applied topically in recommended doses, systemic interaction of Metrogyl Denta gel with other drugs have not been identified.

Dosage and administration:

Locally, only for dental use.

Adults and children over 6 years with inflammation of the gums (gingivitis), Metrogil of the dent is applied to the gum area 2 times a day, it is not recommended to wash off the gel. The duration of treatment is an average of 7-10 days. After applying the gel should refrain from drinking and eating for 30 minutes.

When periodontitis after removing dental deposits, periodontal pockets are treated with gel Metrogil dent and application of the gel on the gums. The time of exposure was 30 min and the Number of treatments depends on the severity of the disease. In the future, the application of the gel can be carried out by the patient: Metrogil dent is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days.

In aphthous stomatitis, Metrogyl dent is applied to the affected area of the oral mucosa 2 times a day for 7-10 days.

For the prevention of exacerbations of chronic gingivitis and periodontitis gel Metrogil dent is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days. Preventive courses of treatment are carried out 2-3 times a year.

To prevent postextraction alveolitis after tooth extraction, the hole is treated with Metrogil dent gel, then the gel is used on an outpatient basis 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days.

Overdose:

There were no cases of drug overdose with local application.

Special instruction:

The use of the gel Metrogil dent does not replace hygienic cleaning of teeth, so during the course of treatment with the drug cleaning of teeth should be continued.
