Release form and composition:

Rectal suppositories white or ivory, smooth, oblong.

1 suppositorie contains:

hyoscine butylbromide 10 mg

Excipients: purified water, hard fat W45.

5 PCs. - strips of aluminium foil (2) - packs of cardboard.

Pharmacological action:

Blocker m-holinoretseptorov. Has antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles of internal organs, decreases the secretion of digestive glands. Do not cross the BBB (because the hyoscine N-butylbromide is a Quaternary ammonium derivative), so there is no anticholinergic effects on the CNS.

Pharmacokinetics:

Data on the pharmacokinetics of the drug Buscopan is not available.

Indications:

— spastic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract, urinary tract (including renal colic, biliary colic, intestinal colic, cholecystitis, pilorospazme)

— spastic dyskinesia biliary tract and gall bladder

— stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer in acute phase (in the complex therapy)

— algomenorrhea.

Dosing regimen:

Adults and children over 6 years assign inside of 1-2 tablets. 3 time/day or 1-2 rectal suppository 3 times/day. The duration of treatment determined by the doctor.

The tablets should be taken orally, drinking plenty of water.

Suppository injected into the rectum pointed end first.

Side effects:

Side effects associated with holinoblokirutm action of the drug: dry mouth, dry skin, tachycardia, drowsiness, paresis ccomodation possible difficulty urinating (usually mild and go away on their own).

Allergic reactions: skin rash in rare cases, difficulty breathing.

Contraindications:

— angle-closure glaucoma

— myasthenia gravis

— megacolon

— hypersensitivity to hyoscine-N-butylbromide and other components of the drug.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Currently no data about negative influence of the drug on the fetus. However, during pregnancy (especially in I trimester) the drug should be administered with caution.

The safety of the drug during lactation is not established. However, cases of adverse effects in newborns has not been reported.

Special instructions:

Be wary appoint drug in cases of suspected intestinal obstruction (including pyloric stenosis), with urinary tract obstruction (including benign prostatic hyperplasia), the propensity to tachyarrhythmia (including atrial fibrillation).

Overdose:

Currently, the cases of drug overdose Buscopan is not described, so the following symptoms and recommendations are theoretical.

Symptoms: urinary retention, dry mouth, reddening of the skin, tachycardia, inhibition of gastrointestinal motility, and transient visual disturbances.

Treatment: gastric lavage with activated charcoal and then a 15% solution of magnesium sulfate. Further shows the use of cholinomimetics. In glaucoma topically administered pilocarpine (eye drops). If necessary, designate holinomimetiki for systemic use (for example, injected into the/m or/in the dose of neostigmine 0.5-2.5 mg) supportive and symptomatic therapy if paralysis of respiratory muscles - intubation and mechanical ventilation if urinary retention - catheterization of the bladder.

Drug interactions:

Buscopan may enhance the anticholinergic effect of antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants, quinidine, amantadine, disopyramide.

The simultaneous use of Buscopan and dopamine antagonists (metoclopramide) leads to a weakening action on the gastrointestinal tract of both drugs.

Buscopan may exacerbate the tachycardia caused by beta-agonists.
