Pharmacological action

A drug with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and antiproliferative, antimicrobial and keratolytic action for external use.

Betamethasone has anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, antiproliferative and antipruritic effect. When applied to the surface of the skin, betamethasone has a rapid and strong effect in the inflammation, reducing the severity of objective symptoms (erythema, edema, lichenification) and the subjective sensations (itching, irritation, pain).

Salicylic acid due to the keratolytic action cleans the lesion from the flakes, promotes the penetration of the betamethasone into the skin, maintains the acidic environment of the skin, preventing the development of bacterial and fungal infection.

Testimony

Subacute and chronic dermatoses, in which the effective therapy of topical corticosteroids, and accompanied by hyperkeratosis and desquamation, including:

  • Psoriasis.
  • Eczema (skin, seborrheic relationsa).
  • Atopic dermatitis.
  • Lichen planus.
  • Asbestovyi zoster.
  • Diskoidna chronic lupus erythematosus.
  • Ichthyosis and ichtiosnye skin lesions.
  • Seborrhea.

Contraindications

  • Tuberculosis of the skin.
  • Cutaneous manifestations of syphilis.
  • Varicella.
  • Viral infection of the skin.
  • Post-vaccination skin reactions.
  • Open wounds.
  • Trophic ulcers.
  • Rosacea.
  • Acne vulgaris.
  • Children up to age 6 months (for ointment).
  • Hypersensitivity to betamethasone, salicylic acid or to any excipients of the drug components.

Application of pregnancy and breastfeeding

The use of the drug Belosalic (in the form of ointments and/or topical solution) in pregnant women is permitted in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs risk to the fetus. In such cases, the use of the drug should be short and limited to small areas of the skin.

In the period of breastfeeding the drug Belosalic possible under strict indications, but the drug should not be applied to the skin of the breast before feeding.

Special instructions

The ointment is only for external use on the skin and/or scalp.

Avoid getting ointment into the eyes and mucous membranes.

We do not recommend prolonged use of ointment on the skin of the person in connection with the possible development of dermatitis-type of rosacea, perioral dermatitis, skin atrophy and acne.

Avoid the use of the drug in the anogenital region.

Not recommended the use of the drug under occlusive dressing, except when it is necessary. With the development of fungal or bacterial microflora on the skin, it is necessary the additional use of antibacterial or antifungal agents.

Use in Pediatrics

The use of the drug Belosalic in children must be as brief as possible under strict precautions, because in children there is a risk of systemic absorption proportionally larger number of active components due to the prevalence area of the skin over the body mass and lack of maturity of the epidermis. You should not use the drug in children under the bandages, especially for the plasticized diapers that may increase the risk of adverse events.

Effects on ability to drive vehicles and management mechanisms

Data about the adverse effects of the drug Belosalic on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms is not available.

Composition

1 g ointment contains:

Active substances: betamethasone dipropionate 640 mcg, which corresponds to the contents of betamethasone - 500 mg, salicylic acid 30 mg.

Excipients: mineral oil, petrolatum.

Method of application and doses

The preparation is intended for external use.

A small amount of ointment spread evenly over the surface of the skin, gently rubbing. The multiplicity of application 2 times/day, in mild cases, a single use.

Duration of continuous treatment is usually limited to 3-4 weeks. If you need a longer course of treatment is recommended to use the drug less frequently, e.g., every other day. In the treatment of chronic diseases the treatment must continue for some time after disappearance of all symptoms, under a doctor's supervision to avoid relapse.

During the year, it is possible to conduct repeated courses of therapy.

Side effects

Side effects tend to be mild in nature.

Dermatological reactions: may develop hypersensitivity reactions (itching, burning, redness), and acne-like changes, hypopigmentation, striae, skin atrophy, hypertrichosis, telangiectasia, secondary skin infection.

When long-term continuous use, and large parts of the skin betamethasone may cause systemic adverse reactions associated with the suppression of adrenocortical function.

With the development of hypersensitivity reactions or adverse reactions the drug should be discontinued.
