Desired therapeutic effect can be achieved within 2-4 weeks (possibly 6-8 weeks) after the initiation of therapy. Treatment should start with a low dose, which should be gradually increased until it reaches the lowest effective dose and maintenance. Increasing the dose to achieve an effective level requires particular caution in elderly patients and those who have not reached 18 years of age.

The daily dosage and mode of administration should be set individually depending on the cause and severity of symptoms. As in the case of other antidepressants, desired therapeutic effect can be achieved within 2-4 weeks (possibly 6-8 weeks) after the initiation of therapy. Treatment should start with a low dose, which should then be gradually increased until it reaches the lowest effective doses and maintenance. Increasing the dose to achieve an effective level requires particular caution in elderly patients.

Depression

Ambulatory patients aged 18 to 60 years: The usual initial dose - 3.1 x 25 mg, followed by a gradual increase to 150-200 mg / day by the end of the first week of treatment. Usual maintenance dose - 50-100 mg / day.

Inpatients aged 18 to 60 years: in severe cases - initial dose is 75 mg / day, followed by an increase to 25 mg / day to 200 mg / day (in exceptional cases - up to 300 mg / day).

Patients older than 60 years or under the age of 18 years: Treatment should be started with the lowest possible dose. The initial dose can be gradually increased up to 50-75 mg / day. It is recommended to determine the optimal dose for 10 days and maintain this dose until the end of treatment.

Panic disorder

Treatment should be started with the lowest possible dose. Transient increase in anxiety in the early therapy can be prevented or eliminated benzodiazepines, which can then be phased out as the elimination of the symptoms of anxiety. Melipraminum dose of the drug can be gradually increased to 75-100 mg / day (in exceptional cases - up to 200 mg / day). The minimum duration of treatment - 6 months. At the end of the course of treatment recommended phasing out Melipraminum drug.
