Short term meat restrictions

Ability to work with water and feed

Broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity

COMPOSITION AND FORM OF RELEASE

A complex antibacterial drug containing 100 mg of sulfadimesine and 20 mg of trimethoprim in 1 g as active ingredients, as well as auxiliary components of calcium stearate and lactose (or sucrose). It is a granular powder of white to grayish-white color, when mixed with water, it forms a suspension. Packed in 500 g in polymer cans.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Sulfadimesine and trimethoprim, which are part of the drug, show a synergistic effect, i.e. they enhance each other's effect by sequentially affecting the metabolism of n-aminobenzoic and folic acids in the microbial cell. The interaction of these components contributes to the expansion of the antibacterial spectrum of the drug. The spectrum of action of the drug covers Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including E. coli. coli, Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Vibrio spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Shigella spp., Corynebacterium spp., Klebsiella spp., Fusobacterium spp., Bordetella spp., Brucella spp.). After oral administration, ditrim powder is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into the organs and tissues of the animal's body, reaching a maximum concentration 2 to 3 hours after administration. The antibacterial effect is maintained throughout the day. According to the degree of exposure to the body of warm-blooded animals, Ditrim powder is a moderately dangerous substance, in the recommended doses it does not have a sensitizing, embryotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic effect. It is excreted mainly in the urine and feces.

INDICATIONS

It is prescribed to calves, foals, lambs, piglets and dogs for the treatment of bacterial infections of the respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract and genitourinary system caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug.

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

Ditrim powder is mixed with feed or suspended in a small amount of water, milk or its substitute and administered to animals individually once a day at the rate of: on the first day of treatment — 5 g per 10 kg of animal weight, on subsequent days of treatment-2.5 g per 10 kg of animal weight. The course of treatment is 3-5 days. In severe cases, treatment is continued for up to 7 days.

SIDE EFFECTS

With proper use and dosage, side effects are usually not observed. With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug and the appearance of side effects (refusal of feed, vomiting), the use of ditrim is discontinued.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to sulfonamide preparations, disorders of the function of the hematopoietic organs, liver and kidney diseases. It is not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy. During treatment with ditrim, the use of n-aminobenzoic acid preparations — novocaine (procaine), anesthesin (benzocaine) is prohibited.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

The slaughter of animals for meat after the application of ditrim powder is allowed after 7 days.
