Expiration date: 04/2026

International name: Digidrotahisterol (Dihydrotachysterol)

Composition

Dihydrotachysterolum.

Pharmacological properties

Corrector of bone tissue metabolism. Digidrotahisterol - D-vitamin-a means of regulating calcium and phosphorus metabolism. On chemical structure Digidrotahisterol similar to ergocalciferol. D-vitamin a activity unlike ergocalciferol is not. In a number of diseases associated with impaired calcium-phosphorus metabolism, Digidrotahisterol increases the absorption of calcium in the intestine, increases the mobilization of phosphorus from organic compounds of the bone, increases excretion of phosphorus with urine. Digidrotahisterol undergoes hydroxylation in the liver to form 25-gidroksidigidrotahisterola - active metabolite. Digidrotahisterol active when administered, causes a slow and lasting effect, can be used for a long time without the development of tolerance. When assigning Digidrotahisterola during pregnancy was observed early ossification of the fetus.

Indications for use

Digidrotahisterol is used in diseases associated with impaired calcium-phosphorus metabolism: failure of function of the parathyroid glands - hypoparathyroidism (surgical, traumatic, autoimmune, sarcoidosis or tuberculosis, neoplastic, idiopathic, functional); when hypocalcemia hypoparathyroidism; prevention of hypocalcemia after thyroid surgery; peripheral resistance to parathyroid hormone: psevdogipoparatireoz (Albright's syndrome); chronic renal failure (renal osteodystrophy); hypocalcemia and hyperphosphatemia (incl. iatrogenic nature: the appointment of high doses of EDTA, mithramycin, actinomycin, neomycin, bisphosphonates, thiazide diuretics, prolonged use of laxatives, phenobarbital and other anticonvulsants, calcitonin overdose; massive transfusion of citrate blood); gipocalziemicescoe cramps; tetany; spasmophilia, idiopathic neonatal hypocalcemia (children); hypomagnesemia.

Contraindications

hypercalcemia (elevated levels of calcium in the blood); hypersensitivity to Digidrotahisterola; pregnancy.

Method of application and doses

Dose Digidrotahisterola depends on the patient and content of calcium and phosphorus in the blood, which is determined before treatment, after 5 - 7 days after it has started, then 1 - 2 times a month. Usual dose Digidrotahisterola is 0.8–2.4 mg per day. Digidrotahisterol taken orally in the form of 0.1% solution in oil (1 mg Digidrotahisterola in 1 ml) after a meal 20 drops (0.5 mg) 3 times daily; in severe cases, with steadily reduced the content of calcium in the blood 30 drops (0.75 mg) 3 times a day. 7 - 10-day treatment with pronounced effect switching to maintenance therapy with Digidrotahisterola: 20 - 60 drops (0.5 to 1.5 mg) on day 1 - 3 times a week. In case of simultaneous appointment the patient a calcium - Digidrotahisterol can be used in smaller doses.

Side effects

Are possible: paleness, headaches, dizziness, weakness, palpitations, thirst, diarrhoea disorders (anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), pain in the right hypochondrium caused by contractions of the gall bladder, impaired renal function; with prolonged use: cardiosclerosis, pneumosclerosis, nephrosclerosis.

Interaction with other substances

Rational is the combination of Digidrotahisterola with calcium. Digidrotahisterol incompatible with other drugs vitamin D (vitamin D2, vitamin D3). Thiazide diuretics contribute to the development of hypercalcemia. Not recommended combination Digidrotahisterola with fenoterol.
