The composition and form of issue:
Gel for external use 2, 5%. 1 g contains:
Ketoprofen 25 mg
excipients: alcohol ethyl rectified nipagin carbomer trometamol oil lavender oil nerol water purified
in tubes of 30 or 50 grams in a box 1 tuba.
Description of dosage form:
A colourless, almost clear gel with characteristic odor. Allowed the presence of opalescence.
Pharmacokinetics:
With cutaneous applications of the gel, extremely slow transdermal absorption of Ketoprofen occurs, which ensures that its concentration in inflamed tissues within the therapeutic level for a long time. It penetrates well into synovial fluid and connective tissue. Absorption into the systemic bloodstream is insignificant, bioavailability is about 5%. Practically does not cumulate.
Description of the pharmacological action:
Inhibits cyclooxygenase 1 and 2, inhibits the synthesis of PG. It has antibacterial activity, stabilizes lysosomal membranes. Reduces the release of cytokines, inhibits the activity of neutrophils. In case of joint syndrome, the pain in the joints weakens at rest and during movement, reduces morning stiffness and swelling of the joints, increases the volume of movements.
Indications:
Painful inflammatory or traumatic defeats of joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles (arthritis, periarthritis, tendonitis, tendosynovitis, bursitis, contusions, ligament damage, sprains, injuries of the knee meniscus, torticollis, lumbago) phlebitis, periflebit.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Ketoprofen or other ingredients of the drug, dermatitis, eczema, infected cuts and wounds, pregnancy and breastfeeding, children's age.
Side effect:
In some patients in isolated cases, allergic reactions are possible (require discontinuation of therapy), photosensitization.
Drug interaction:
Currently, the interaction of Ketoprofen in cutaneous use with other drugs has not been revealed.
Method of application and doses:
Locally, applied to the skin, squeezing the tube about 3-5 cm or more gel (depending on the area of the painful area), distributed evenly thin layer and gently rubbed into the inflamed and painful areas of the body until completely absorbed. Apply 2 times a day. In order to improve the effectiveness of therapy, a dry occlusive dressing may be applied.
Special instruction:
Do not allow the gel to enter the mucous membranes and eyes. It is not recommended to apply the gel to open wounds or damaged skin.
