The composition and form of issue:

1 tablet contains 30 mg gliquidone 10 PCs in blister, in box 6 blisters.

Feature:

Smooth, white, with bevelled edges tablet, scored and engraved "57 C" on one side and company logo on the other side.

Pharmacological action:

Stimulates the production of insulin from the beta cells of the pancreas.

Pharmacokinetics:

Rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Cmax after a single oral dose of 30 mg is reached after 2-3 h, 500-700 ng/ml and decreased by 50% after 0.5–1 h.

Completely metabolized in the liver. Primarily excreted by the intestines (bile and faeces) and in a small amount (about 5%) from urine. The level of drug excretion with urine remains minimal even when taken regularly.

Indications:

Diabetes mellitus type 2 (insulin) in patients of middle and old age the poor diet.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity (including to the sulfonylureas or sulfonamides), diabetes mellitus type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetic acidosis, ketoacidosis, precoma, coma, pregnancy, breast-feeding.

Application of pregnancy and breast-feeding:

Contraindicated in pregnancy. At the time of treatment should stop breastfeeding.

Side effects:

Rarely hypoglycaemic reactions, allergic skin reactions, changes in blood counts, violations of the gastrointestinal tract.

Drug interactions:

The effect may increase salicylates, sulfonamides, derivatives of phenylbutazone, the anti-TB drugs, chloramphenicol, tetracyclines, coumarin derivatives, cyclophosphamide, inhibitors MAO, beta-adrenergic blockers to relax — chlorpromazine, sympathomimetics, glucocorticoids, thyroid hormones, oral contraceptives, drugs containing nicotinic acid.

Gliquidone can lower the tolerance to alcohol.

Method of application and dose:

Inside, during a meal, at the beginning of the meal.

The initial dose is usually 15 mg (1/2 table.) at Breakfast time, then gradually increase. Daily dose not exceeding 60 mg, can be administered in a single intake at Breakfast time, but the best effect is achieved when administering the drug 2-3 times a day. Increasing the dose over 120 mg (4 table.) usually do not lead to further enhancement of the effect.

When switching from other hypoglycemic drugs with similar mechanism of action starting dose set depending on the disease and it is usually 15-30 mg. Dose increase only on the advice of a doctor.

Overdose:

Symptoms: hypoglycemia, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, allergic reactions.

Treatment: the immediate introduction of glucose (inside or/in).

Precautions:

In patients with severe renal insufficiency, the drug should be administered under careful medical supervision.

Special instructions:

The drug should not replace medical diet that allows you to control body weight of the patient and to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disorders.

Untimely food intake or failure to comply with the recommended dosing regime can cause a significant decrease in the level of glucose in blood and loss of ability to concentrate. The consumption of sugar, sweets or sweet drinks usually helps to prevent starting hypoglycemic reaction, however, while maintaining this condition, you should immediately consult a doctor. Medical consultation is required and in case of sickness (fever, rash, nausea).

Allergic reactions require discontinuation of the drug and replace it with another oral antidiabetic agent or insulin.

During the selection of the doses or changing medication should avoid activities potentially hazardous activities, require increased attention and psychomotor speed reactions.
