Structure and Composition: 

Pills, enteric-coated sugar-coated. One tablet contains bisacodyl 5 mg

Excipients: corn starch, sodium starch glycolate, povidone, magnesium stearate, silica Eudragit macrogol 6000 talc, sucrose, gum arabic paint FDC Yellow N5 nail titanium dioxide

in blister 10 pcs. In the paper cartons 3 blisters.

Pharmachologic effect:

Diphenylmethane derivative. Increases of mucus secretion in the colon, it accelerates and enhances motility. Action due to direct stimulation of nerve endings in the colon mucosa. Laxative effect starts after 6-10 hours after oral administration, in the form of a one-two-time acts of defecation in the form of chairs. This latency period is needed to transport the drug to the colon, which acts as a contact laxative. In applying the suppository laxative effect begins within 15-60 minutes. Bisacodyl not resorbed from the intestine, and therefore there is no risk of serious side effects.

Indications:

Constipation due to hypotonia and sluggish motility of the colon (particularly in older patients, constipation after surgery, childbirth), the regulation of the chair with haemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures, preparation for surgery, instrumental and radiological investigations.

Contraindications:

Intestinal obstruction, incarcerated hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity, abdominal pain of unknown origin, peritonitis, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, uterine bleeding, cystitis, spastic constipation, acute proctitis, acute hemorrhoids.

Application of pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Carefully.

Side effect:

Colicky pain in the bowel region. When using suppositories may appear irritation rectum and proctitis.

Dosage and administration:

Inside, without breaking or chewing, with a small amount of water, once, at bedtime or 30 minutes before breakfast. Adults and children over 14 years - 5-15 mg for children 2-7 years - 5 mg 8-14 years - 5-10 mg.

In preparation for diagnostic tests or surgery - 10-20 mg in the evening and 10 mg in the morning.

Overdose:

Symptoms: diarrhea with excessive loss of fluids and electrolytes, muscle weakness, convulsions, hypotension.

Special instructions:

Bisacodyl should not be used long-term treatment of chronic constipation. In the presence of nausea, vomiting and stomach pain, the drug should not be taken inside. Used with caution during pregnancy and lactation, as well as in patients with diseases of the liver and kidneys.

If the application of bisacodyl will start bleeding from the rectum, the drug should be discontinued.
