The solution for external use in the form of a film-forming dark brown odorless liquid or with a weak specific smell.

Composition

Active ingredients: iodine 4.1 g, Excipients: potassium iodide 13.8 g, low molecular weight povidone 122.1 g, purified water to 1000 ml.

Pharmacological action

Iodopyrone has a pronounced bactericidal effect on the body, showing activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus and strains of E. coli, resistant to antibiotics). In addition, this drug has anti-inflammatory and fungicidal effect.

Indications

  • decontamination of surgeon's hands, surgical field, surgical gloves and elbow bends of donors,
  • burns,
  • purulent and infected wounds,
  • osteomyelitis.

Contraindications

The drug is not used in case of excessive sensitivity of the body to its components. Avoid contact with the ointment on the mucous membranes and rinse them thoroughly, if it happened.

Dosage and administration

Outwardly. Iodine pyron powder contains 6-8% active iodine. 1% solution is prepared in pharmacy conditions. 0.1-0.5% solutions are prepared immediately before use of 1% solution. As a skin antiseptic for the treatment of the surgeon's hands, 0.1% ( for active iodine) solutions (5 ml) are used, the operating field is wiped with a cloth soaked in solution, with extensive burns, the patient is immersed in a bath with a solution of 1:32 or 1:50 for 10-15 minutes.for the complex treatment of purulent wounds, disinfection of the operating field and treatment of elbow bends of donors - 0.5% and 1% ( for active iodine) solutions of iodopyrone.

Side effect

Dry skin, itchy skin. Allergic reactions (redness of the skin, hives). When applied to a large wound surface may be rapid burning, which soon disappears.

Drug interaction

Pharmaceutically incompatible with disinfectants containing mercury, oxidants, alkali salts and substances with acid reaction, with drugs for external use containing enzymes (iodine reduces the activity of enzymes). In the presence of blood bactericidal activity may decrease. With the simultaneous use of drugs lithium the possible synergistic hypothyroid effect.
