Ketoconazole

Pharmachologic effect:

Antifungal agent has activity against dermatophytes, yeasts, dimorphic fungi and eumitsetov. Also active against staphylococci and streptococci. The mechanism of action is to inhibit ergosterol synthesis fungi. It prevents the transformation of Candida albicans blastospores into invasive form.

Indications:

Fungal infections caused by susceptible pathogens: ringworm (tinea smooth leather, jock itch, athlete's hands and feet, skin candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, seborrheic dermatitis, caused by Pityrosporum ovale, onychomycosis), folliculitis. To apply the shampoo: mold mycoses, hair mycoses, pityriasis versicolor, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions (hives, skin rash). Local reactions: Cream - skin irritation, burning sensation, contact dermatitis, shampoo - local skin irritation, itching and burning of the skin, excessive oiliness or dryness of hair, hair loss.

Dosage and administration:

Outwardly. The cream is applied 1 time per day to the affected skin area, capturing as 2cm healthy areas, treatment should be continued for several days after the disappearance of symptoms. The mean duration of treatment of candidiasis and mold mycosis - 2-3 weeks, tinea - 2-6 weeks, tinea versicolor - 2-3 weeks, jock itch - 2-4 weeks. In seborrheic dermatitis cream is applied 1-2 times a day for 2-4 weeks. Shampoo is applied to the affected skin and hair, then after 3-5 minutes wash off with water. For treating mycoses mold 1 applied once a day for 5 days to prevent them - 1 time per day for 3 days. For the treatment of dandruff shampoo use the 1% every 3-4 days for 8 weeks, to prevent it is used only when necessary under the supervision of clinical manifestations. In seborrheic dermatitis - 2% shampoo 2 times a week for 2-4 weeks for prevention - 1 once a week every 1-2 weeks. In pityriasis versicolor - 2% shampoo applitsiruyut to the affected areas of skin with the capture of the neighboring areas for 3-5 minutes, then wash off.

Special instructions:

Avoid contact with eyes. If you get shampoo in the eyes wash them with water. When combined with the prolonged use of local corticosteroids dosage forms to prevent the syndrome of "cancellation" it is recommended to use corticosteroids in the morning, and ketoconazole - in the evening, followed by gradual withdrawal of GCS for 2-3 weeks.
