The properties of the molecule and drug

  • specialized antibiotic for the treatment of urinary tract infections, the active molecule of which is phosphomycin, is presented in the European and Russian urologists recommendations for the management of patients with urinary tract infections
  • phosphomycin molecule activity against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, usually released in urinary tract infections, such as Escherichiacoli (E. coli), Citroen spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Serratia spp., Pseudomonas spp., Enterococcus spp.
  • lack of cross-resistance with other classes of antibiotics and mutual enhancement with antibiotics of other classes, for example, with beta-lactam antibiotics
  • dual mechanism of antimicrobial action:
  • bactericidal effect is associated with inhibition of cell wall synthesis of bacteria;
  • anti-adhesive-associated with the ability to prevent bacteria from attaching to the mucous membrane of the bladder, which plays the role of a predisposing factor in recurrent infections.
  • good bioavailability and absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, the maximum concentration in the plasma for a period of 2-2.5 h after oral administration
  • reaching concentrations in urine exceeding the minimum bacteriostatic for most of the major uropathogens, 24 hours after administration
  • preservation and maintenance of therapeutic concentrations in urine for 48 hours after taking the usual dosage, determining the possibility of course therapy of exacerbations of cystitis with a single dose
  • possibility of use in children from 5 years, pregnant women, elderly patients and persons with diabetes (taking into account the provisions of the instructions for medical use of the drug)
