Composition and form of issue:
1 tablet contains Pyrantel 250 mg (in the form of an embonate) in a contour cell pack of 3 PCs., in a cardboard pack of 1 package.
Pharmacological action:
Causes neuromuscular blockade in sensitive helminths and promotes their elimination from the body.
Pharmacokinetics:
Poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After taking the drug inside at a dose of 10 mg/kg body weight, Cmax is achieved after 1-3 hours and is 0, 005-0, 13 µg / ml.there is no data on the penetration of the drug through the placenta and its distribution in tissues and body fluids. Metabolized in the liver to N-methyl-1, 3-propanediamine. About 50% of the oral dose is excreted unchanged in the faeces and 7% from urine, including the metabolites (N-methyl?1, 3-propanediamine).
Description of pharmacological action:
Acts on helminths in the early phase of development and Mature forms (does not affect larvae during their migration in tissues). Effective against Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus, Trichostrongylus orientalis, Trichostrongylus colubriformis.
Indications:
Ascariasis, enterobiasis, hookworm disease.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity.
Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Perhaps in case of emergency, if the expected effect of therapy exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. During breastfeeding, the drug can be used only in case of emergency.
Side effect:
From the nervous system and sensory organs: rarely — headache, dizziness, drowsiness/insomnia, weakness.
From the digestive tract: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, pain and abdominal cramps, diarrhea.
Other: rash, fever, in rare cases-a transient increase in the concentration of AST in blood serum.
All side effects are short-term and disappear after discontinuation of treatment.
Drug interaction:
When combined with piperazine, these funds act antagonistically (the use of this combination is not recommended).
Dosage and administration:
Inside, carefully chew the tablet before swallowing, during or after meals. Children from 6 months to 2 years the recommended dose-125 mg, 2-6 years-250 mg, 6-12 years-500 mg children over 12 years and adults weighing up to 75 kg-750 mg adults weighing more than 75 kg-1000 mg.
Ascariasis, enterobiasis and mixed infestations of these parasites: 10 mg/kg once when hookworm disease: 10 mg/kg for 3 days if infestation Necator americanus: 20 mg/kg for 2 days.
In the case of infection only with an anthroponotic nematode, the dose can be reduced to 5 mg/kg.
Precautionary measures:
With caution used in violation of liver function. Should not be combined with piperazine.
Special instruction:
In the treatment of enterobiosis, the whole family should be treated at the same time.
Careful hygiene is necessary.
After 14 days after treatment, a control parasitological examination should be carried out.
