Pharmacological action

Antihypertensive agent

Is a non-peptide blocker of the angiotensin II receptor. High selectivity and affinity to receptors of type AT1 (with the participation of the implementation of the main effects of angiotensin II). By blocking these receptors, losartan prevents and eliminates the vasoconstrictor action of angiotensin II, its stimulating effect on the secretion of aldosterone by the adrenal glands and some other effects of angiotensin II. Is characterized by prolonged action (24 hours or more), due to the formation of its active metabolite

Testimony

Hypertension, congestive heart failure (with failure of therapy with ACE inhibitors), diabetes mellitus type 2 with proteinuria (reducing the risk of development of hypercreatininemia and proteinuria), reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and lactation, age under 18 years (effectiveness and safety have not been established),

lactose intolerance, galactosemia, malabsorption syndrome glucose/galactose, hypersensitivity to the drug.

With caution: arterial hypotension, violation vodno-elektrolitnogo balance, reduced blood volume, hepatic and/or renal insufficiency (including bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis of artery only kidneys).

Method of application and doses

Inside, 1 times/day., regardless of the meal.
