The composition and form of issue:

Eye drops 0,05 % 1 ml contains:

tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride (tetryzoline hydrochloride) 0.5 mg

excipients: benzalkonium chloride 0.1 mg disodium edetate sodium chloride boric acid sodium tetraborate (borax) water for injections 

in vials of 10 ml (with dispensing nozzle) in the paper cartons 1 a bottle.

Description pharmaceutical form:

Clear colorless solution.

Pharmacokinetics:

The local application of systemic absorption is low.

Description pharmacological action:

Alpha-agonists, has a vasoconstrictor and antikongestivne action. The vasoconstrictor effect without secondary reactive hyperemia develops over several minutes and saved 4-8 h

Indications:

  • swelling of the conjunctiva, secondary hyperemia in allergic diseases of the eye, conjunctival irritation
  • redness and/or swelling of the conjunctiva caused by various nonspecific causes: the condition after tonometry, dust, cigarette smoke, smog, swimming, reading, driving a car.

Contraindications:

  • hypersensitivity to components of the drug
  • glaucoma
  • children's age (till 6 years)
  • endothelial-epithelial dystrophy of the cornea
  • pregnancy
  • lactation.

With caution:

  • hypertension
  • arrhythmia
  • aneurysm
  • thyrotoxicosis
  • pheochromocytoma
  • diabetes
  • heavy organic diseases of the heart and blood vessels (including coronary artery disease) the period of treatment MAO inhibitors, and other drugs, raising AD.

Side effects:

From the side of organs of vision: mydriasis, increased intraocular pressure, reactive hyperemia, lacrimation, burning sensation in the eye.

Systemic effects (possible with instillation of a large number of drug): headache, nausea, drowsiness, weakness, tremor, dizziness, insomnia, palpitations, tachycardia, hyperglycemia, increased blood pressure, disruption of the heart, allergic reactions.

Drug interactions:

Incompatible with MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, maprotiline (possibility of development of hypertensive crisis), with inhalation anaesthetics (e.g. cyclopropane, halothane and other halogenated inhalational anesthetics, which can induce ventricular fibrillation).

Method of application and dose:

Topically, 1-2 drops in each conjunctival SAC 2-3 times a day.

If improvement has not occurred within 48 h, further treatment must be stopped and consult a doctor.

Overdose:

Symptoms: mydriasis, cyanosis, fever, cramps, arrhythmia, increased blood pressure, pulmonary edema, dyspnea, cardiac arrest. Excessive total absorption of imidazole derivatives may cause CNS depression accompanied by drowsiness, hypothermia, bradycardia, collapse, apnea and coma. The risk of symptoms of overdose associated with drug absorption, high in young children, especially if swallowed.

Treatment: use activated charcoal, gastric lavage, inhalation of oxygen, the appointment of antipyretics and anti-epileptics. To lower blood pressure — phentolamine 5 mg of physiological solution in/in slow or on 100 mg inside. The antidote is unknown.

Special instructions:

Use within 30 days after opening the bottle.

Avoid prolonged use and overdose, especially in children.

If eye disease is not a barrier to wearing contact lenses, remove them before instillation of the drug and set approximately 15 minutes avoid direct contact of eye drops with soft contact lenses because of the risk of violation of their transparency.

During treatment should refrain from activities potentially hazardous activities, require high concentration and psychomotor speed reactions (the ability of the visually impaired).

If within 48 hours the condition does not improve or irritation and redness of the eyes persist or grow, you should stop the drug and consult a doctor.

With the appearance of intense eye pain, headache, loss of vision, sudden appearance of floating spots before the eyes, redness of eyes, pain when exposed to light or double vision, you should immediately consult a doctor.
