Tobrex

The composition and form of issue:

1 ml eye drops contains tobramycin 3 g in vials of 5 ml with a dispenser Drop-Tainer, in a box 1 bottle.

1 g of eye ointment - 3 g in tubes of 3, 5 g, 1 tube in a box.

Indications:

Infections of the eye and surrounding tissues.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity.

Side effect:

Allergic reactions: the development of fungal superinfections (with prolonged use).

Drug interaction:

Incompatible with preparations containing tetracycline (due to the presence in the of the TOPEX tyloxapol).

Method of application and doses:

Conjunctival: drops on the 1-2 drops every 4 h ointment, 1-1. 5 cm of the column 2-3 times a day.

The composition and form of issue: 

Eye drops, 1 ml

tobramycin 3 mg

excipients: xanthan gum, mannitol, boric acid, trometamol, Polysorbate 80, benzododecinium bromide, sulfuric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (for raising pH), purified water 

in bottles-dropper plastic "Drop Tainer™" 5 ml in a pack of cardboard 1 bottle.

Description of dosage form:

Transparent or opalescent viscous solution, from colorless to light-brownish color.

Pharmacokinetics:

When applied topically, systemic absorption is low.

Description of the pharmacological action:

Broad-spectrum antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides. It has a bactericidal effect, breaking the protein synthesis and permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of the microbial cell.

Indications:

  • Infection of the eye and its appendages:
  • blepharitis
  • conjunctivitis
  • keratoconjunctivitis
  • blepharoconjunctivitis
  • keratitis
  • iridocyclitis
  • prevention of postoperative infections in ophthalmology.

Contraindications:

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Application during pregnancy and breast-feeding:

There is no sufficient experience in the use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation. The use of the drug during pregnancy, lactation is possible when the expected therapeutic effect exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and child.

Use in children. The drug can be used in Pediatrics in children from 1 year and older in doses similar to adults.

Side effect:

In some cases (1, 5 %) allergic reaction develops, accompanied by itching, conjunctival hyperemia, lacrimation.

In 1% of cases, erythema and swelling of the eyelids, swelling of the conjunctiva, discomfort in the eye. With local application tobramitsina possible occurrence of burning and feeling of a foreign body in the eye.

Less than 1% of cases are observed blepharitis, keratitis, eye pain, chemosis, deposition of crystals, corneal ulceration.

Drug interaction:

In case of simultaneous administration of tobramycin locally with systemic aminoglycoside antibiotics, it is possible to increase the side effects of systemic nature.

Method of application and doses:

Into the conjunctival SAC. 1 drop of the drug 2 times a day (morning and evening) during the week.

In the case of acute severe infectious process on the first day, the drug is buried 1 drop 4 times a day, then — 1 drop 2 times a day until the end of treatment.

Before each application, turn over the closed bottle and shake 1 time. No need to shake the bottle more than 1 time.

Tobrex 2X can be used in Pediatrics in children 1 year of age and older at doses similar to adults.

Overdose:

With local use, overdose is unlikely.

Special instruction:

Prolonged use of an antibiotic can lead to excessive growth of resistant microorganisms, including fungi. In the case of a superinfection it is necessary to assign adequate therapy.

Tobrex 2X contains a preservative benzododecinium bromide, which can be absorbed by contact lenses. Before using the product lenses should be removed and set back no earlier than 15 minutes after use.

The bottle must be closed after each use.
