Pharmachologic effect:

Local anesthetic effect due to blockade of voltage-dependent Na + -channels, which prevents the generation of pulses in the endings of the sensory nerves and the conduction of impulses along nerve fibers. It suppresses holding not only the pain but also other pulses. Modality. Action develops within 20-30 seconds after application and lasts up to 15 min.

Indications:

Local anesthesia in ophthalmology (for short-term diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that require quick and short-term anesthesia): cataract surgery, suture removal of the cornea or conjunctiva, tonometry, Gonioscopy, removal of foreign bodies from the cornea, conjunctival scraping for diagnostic purposes.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity.

Side effects:

Itching, burning and redness of the conjunctiva, allergic reaction (very rare - acute diffuse epithelial keratitis with filamentous formations and / or rejection of a large area of ??necrotic epithelium, spread stromal edema), Descemet's membrane of the cornea inflammation of the eye, iritis. With prolonged use - infections and / or corneal opacity, prolonged loss of vision, corneal perforation.

Dosage and administration:

When performing tonometry and others. Short duration procedures instilled 1-2 cap, directly in front of inspection. For minor surgical procedures (removal of a foreign body or suture removal) is instilled 1-2 cap every 10-15 minutes (1-3 doses). Special instructions:

Long term use leads to reduced efficiency (duration of anesthesia) and slow healing of wounds. Additional landfill increases the risk of infection, opacity or corneal perforation.
