Structure and Composition:
Tablets. One tablet contains doxazosin (as mesylate) 1, 2 or 4 mg
Excipients: sodium starch glycolate, lactose MCC Sodium lauryl sulphate Magnesium stearate
in blister 7 pcs. 2 blisters in the box or in blister 10 pcs. in box 3 blisters.
Pharmachologic effect:
Blocks postsynaptic alpha1-adrenergic receptors and vascular alpha1-adrenergic receptors (stroma and prostatic capsule, bladder neck).
Description of the pharmacological actions:
Improves urodynamics and reduces symptoms in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia normalizes blood lipid profile (increased HDL, lowering levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol), inhibits platelet aggregation, increases the activity of tissue plasminogen activator, restores the sensitivity of cells to insulin.
Indications:
Arterial hypertension, urinary tract obstruction and symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity (including other quinazolines).
- Application of pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Perhaps if the expected effect of therapy outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and newborn.
Side effect:
Orthostatic reactions, syncope, dizziness, headache, malaise, weakness, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, edema, rhinitis, urinary incontinence.
Dosage and administration:
Inside (morning or evening). Arterial hypertension. The dosage varies from 1 to 16 mg / day. Initial dose - 1 mg 1 time per day for 1 or 2 weeks. Over the next two weeks or one may increase the dose 1 to 2 mg once daily. To achieve the desired reduction in blood pressure, if necessary, the daily dose should be increased gradually, keeping regular intervals up to 4, 8 and 16 mg depending on the severity of the patient's reaction. The usual recommended dose - 1 mg 2-4 times a day.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia. The initial dose - 1 mg 1 time per day. Depending on the individual characteristics and urodynamic presence of symptoms the dose can be increased to 2 mg, and later 4 mg, and up to a maximum recommended dose of 8 mg. Recommended interval to increase the dose of 1-2 weeks. The usual recommended dose - 1 mg 2-4 times a day.
In patients with renal failure is used in conventional doses.
Experience with doxazosin have no children.
Precautionary measures:
