The composition and form of issue:
Spray for nasal application. 1 ml contains Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.5 or 1 mg
Excipients: sea water is 250 mg of potassium dihydrogen — 0.45 mg purified water — 754,35 mg or 753,85 mg
theoretical total mass — 1005,3 mg
in a plastic bottle with a spray valve (3 system) 15 ml (150 doses) in the paper cartons 1 a bottle.
Description pharmaceutical form:
Colorless, transparent solution.
Pharmacokinetics:
The local application of the drug is almost not absorbed, so its concentration in blood plasma is very small (modern analytical methods is not defined).
Description pharmacological action:
Xylometazoline belongs to a group of local vasoconstrictor with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosa, eliminating swelling and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa and restores the patency of the nasal passages, nasal breathing easier.
The effect of the drug occurs within minutes after application and lasts for several hours.
Indications:
- acute respiratory illness with symptoms of rhinitis (runny nose)
- acute allergic rhinitis, hay fever, sinusitis, evstahiit, otitis media (in a combination therapy to reduce swelling of the mucous nasopharynx)
- to facilitate rhinoscopy, and other diagnostic procedures in the nasal passages.
Contraindications:
- hypersensitivity
- hypertension
- tachycardia
- marked atherosclerosis
- glaucoma
- atrophic rhinitis
- thyrotoxicosis
- surgical interventions on the brain casings (in history)
- pregnancy
- children up to age 6 years (0.1% solution)
- children up to age 2 years (0.05% solution).
With caution:
- lactation
- Coronary artery disease (angina)
- prostatic hyperplasia
- diabetes.
Side effects:
Frequent and/or long — term use- irritation and/or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning sensation, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion.
Seldom — swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, insomnia, blurred vision depression (with prolonged use at high doses).
Drug interactions:
Incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
Method of application and dose:
The intranasal route.
Spray for nasal use "Snoop" to 0.05%. Children aged 2 to 6 years — 1 injection into each nostril (if necessary repeat), up to 3 times a day.
Spray for nasal use "Snoop" to 0.1%. Adults and children over 6 years — 1 injection into each nostril (if necessary repeat), up to 3 times a day.
The drug should not be used more than 3 times a day, the duration of the course — no more than 5-7 days.
Overdose:
Symptoms: increased side effects.
Treatment: symptomatic, under the supervision of a physician.
Special instructions:
Before application it is necessary to clear the nasal passages.
It should not be used for a long time, such as in chronic rhinitis.
Expiration date:
The contents of the vial sterile, without preservatives. After opening the bottle the drug should be used within 3 months.
