Description pharmaceutical form:

Clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic taste and smell.

The drug of plant origin.

Pharmacological action:

Central effects (sedation) occurs when the symptoms of disorders of the nervous system, in particular with psycho-vegetative complaints, stress, difficulties to fall asleep, at that time, as antispasmodic action is when you apply for functional gastrointestinal symptoms. Essential oils of medicinal plants and their contained mainly terpenes have sedative and antispasmodic action.

It is proved that the therapeutic effect of combination of essential oils and alcohol surpasses the effects of alcohol.

Has antimicrobial action in the complex treatment of colds, especially in the early stages.

When applied topically has antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal (fungicidal) activity, stimulates blood flow, causing an anesthetic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Essential oils, containing terpenes and terpenoids, are absorbed through intact skin and mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract and are excreted primarily through the lungs and kidneys. Terpenes and/or their metabolites can exert a therapeutic effect (expectorant effect).

Action on the autonomic nervous system and Central nervous system, and cardiovascular system and lungs mainly based on the absorption of essential oils and ethanol.

Indications:

For oral administration in adults: psycho-vegetative nervous disorders, such as: increased nervous irritability, sleep disturbances, difficulty falling asleep, headaches due to nervous stress.

Dyspepsia of nervous origin (flatulence, sensation of heaviness in the stomach, lack of appetite).

Prevention and supportive therapy for colds.

For external application: neuralgia, muscular pain (myalgia).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, peptic ulcer of stomach and duodenum, liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain damage, childhood.

Application of pregnancy and breast-feeding:

Contraindicated in pregnancy. At the time of treatment should stop breastfeeding.

Side effects:

When used in recommended doses, side effects are very rare.

When using inside at the beginning of treatment rarely may include: heartburn, indigestion, feeling of heat, fatigue, dizziness, allergic skin reactions (itching). Reactions of the gastrointestinal tract disappear when taking the drug after meals. In case of allergic skin reactions, treatment should be discontinued.

Frequent external application can lead to dehydration.

Drug interactions:

Action of benzodiazepines may be enhanced. The simultaneous intake of alcohol and phenytoin, tolbutamide, warfarin, or meprobamate may cause a decrease in the elimination half-life of these drugs. High doses of the drug, Klosterfrau Melisana simultaneously with other medications may affect the pharmacokinetics of these drugs.

Method of application and dose:

Inside.

With increased nervous excitability: 1-3 teaspoons of the elixir (5-15 ml) before meals, pre-diluted with a double quantity of warm water or tea. If necessary, sweeten with sugar or honey.

Sleep disturbances: 1-3 teaspoons, previously diluted with double quantity of warm water, for 15 minutes before bedtime.

For headaches: 1-3 teaspoons of the drug, previously diluted with double quantity of warm water.

For gastrointestinal disorders of nervous origin (flatulence, sensation of heaviness in the stomach): 1-3 teaspoons, previously diluted with double quantity of warm water.

Colds: at first sign of symptoms — 3 times a day, 1-3 teaspoons, previously diluted with double amount of hot water or tea.

The treatment should be not less than 7 days.

Externally. Neuralgia and myalgia. Apply to painful area and RUB until dry. If you have sensitive skin, the drug should be diluted with double amount of water. Use only on intact skin.

The duration of treatment is not limited.

Overdose:

When using inside: may develop known side effects of alcohol.

For external use: prolonged use (compresses with undiluted product) may cause damage to the skin.

Precautions:

Medicinal product contains 59% of alcohol by weight (66% by volume). When used in recommended doses, consumption of ethanol is 2, 6 g (1 tsp product) to 5, 2 g (2 teaspoons of the drug). When you assign 10 ml (2 tsp), Klosterfrau Melisana, the level of ethanol in blood does not exceed 0, 1‰.

When using inside: due to the high concentration of alcohol in the drug, medication, even in diluted form on an empty stomach can cause symptoms such as heartburn, stomach pain, nausea or vomiting. In this case, the drug must be administered after a meal.

For external use: patients with allergic reactions or skin lesions before treatment should conduct a sensitivity test (on his arm). Alcohol dehydrates the skin if used frequently.

Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, wash them with water for 10 min.

On open wounds, the alcohol causes a slight burning sensation.
