Pharmacological action

Giaferon, vaginal and rectal suppositories, is an antiviral drug that includes human recombinant interferon alpha-2b, sodium hyaluronate as active components.

Immunobiological properties

Human recombinant interferon alpha-2b is a protein obtained by recombinant DNA. The polypeptide structure of the molecule, its biological activity and pharmacological properties are identical to the leukocyte interferon alpha-2b.

Human recombinant interferon alpha-2b inhibits the intracellular stages of the development of herpes simplex virus type I and II, chlamydia, gardnerella, mycoplasma and ureaplasma, has antiviral, immunomodulatory and antibacterial effects

Indications

Acute and chronic recurrent herpetic infection, including sexual and generalized forms.

Complex therapy of diseases of the genital sphere: chlamydia, gardnerellosis, mycoplasmosis and ureaplasmosis.

Contraindications

• increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation has not been studied.

Special instructions

Giaferon does not affect the performance of activities that require special attention and quick reactions (driving vehicles, machinery, etc.).

The drug is not suitable for use:

• the integrity of the packaging, which is violated,
• without marking,
• with altered physical properties (color change, the appearance of the smell of rancid fat),
• with an expired expiration date.

Composition

One suppository contains:

Active substances: interferon alpha-2b human recombinant - 500000 ME, sodium hyaluronate-12 mg.

Auxiliary substances: confectionery fat, paraffin, emulsifier T-2.

Method of administration and dosage

Before use, the waxed paper is removed from the suppository or the cell packaging is cut.

For herpes infection: 1 suppository rectally or vaginally 2 times a day, daily for 10 days.

For chlamydia, gardnerellosis, mycoplasmosis, ureaplasmosis: 1 suppository 2 times a day vaginally daily for 20-30 days.

Side effects

The drug is well tolerated and does not cause a pronounced side effect. With a daily dose of interferon alpha-2b over 10000000 ME, such phenomena as chills, fatigue, loss of appetite, sweating can be observed. In these cases, it is recommended to consult your doctor to reduce the dose of the drug.

Drug interaction

The drug Giaferon is effective as a component of complex therapy. In combination with antibacterial and antiviral drugs, it allows you to achieve a high therapeutic effect.
