Pharmacotherapeutic group: nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Pharmacological properties
The drug Nurofen Express in the dosage form gel for external use easy to apply and quickly absorbed into the skin.
Pharmacodynamics.
The drug belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It has a double effect: analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Ibuprofen, being a derivative of propionic acid, non-selectively blocks COX-1 and COX-2, thereby inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins — mediators of pain, inflammation and hyperthermal reaction. When applied to the skin gel has an additional cooling effect due to the rapid evaporation of the alcohol contained in the gasoline.
Pharmacokinetics.
After application to the skin ibuprofen is found in the epidermis and derma in 24 hours. About 5% of ibuprofen is absorbed into deeper tissues. Repeated application of the drug is sufficient to achieve therapeutic concentrations of ibuprofen in the tissues to be clinically significant systemic absorption practically does not occur.

Indications for use
As a local analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent in conditions such as muscle pain, back pain, arthritis, ligament damage, sprains, sports injuries and neuralgia.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or other components of the drug, acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs.
Bronchial asthma, urticaria, rhinitis, provoked by taking acetylsalicylic acid (salicylates) or other NSAIDs.
Violations of the integrity of the skin at the site of application of the drug (including infected cuts and wounds, weeping dermatitis, eczema).
Children under 14 years of age.
Pregnancy III trimester.
With caution
Before using the drug should consult a doctor in the presence of concomitant diseases of the liver or kidneys, gastrointestinal tract; bronchial asthma, urticaria, rhinitis, nasal mucosa polyps; pregnant (I-II trimester of pregnancy) and breastfeeding women.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The drug is contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
If possible, you should avoid the use of the drug in the I and II trimesters of pregnancy (ibuprofen may cause a delay in the timing of births and the increase of their duration).
There is evidence that ibuprofen in small quantities can enter breast milk without any adverse effects on the health of the infant.
Method of application and doses
For external use only.
Nurofen Express gel is prescribed to adults and children over 14 years old.
When using the tube for the first time: opening the cover, check that the safety foil on the tube neck is not damaged. Open the foil, pressing it on the outside of the lid.
Squeeze out of the tube on the hand 4-10 cm of the drug (equivalent to approximately 50 — 125 mg ibuprofen) and gently RUB the gel into the skin until completely absorbed.
Immediately after treatment you must wash your hands.
Re-use the drug should not be earlier than 4 hours. Do not use the gel more than four times within 24 hours.
If within 2 weeks of use of the drug symptoms persist or worsen, it is necessary to stop treatment and consult a doctor.
Do not exceed this dose!
Side effect
Hypersensitivity reaction:
* non-specific allergic reactions and anaphylactic reactions,
* reactions from the respiratory tract: bronchial asthma (including exacerbation), bronchospasm, shortness of breath, Quincke's edema,
* skin reactions at the site of gel application: urticaria, rash, skin hyperemia, burning or tingling sensations, rarely — exfoliative and bullous dermatoses (including toxic epidermal necrolysis and multiform erythema).
Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract:
* abdominal pain, dyspepsia.
With prolonged use, it is possible to develop systemic side effects of NSAIDs.
If side effects occur, discontinue use of the drug and seek medical advice.
Overdose
There were no cases of overdose of Nurofen Express gel.
If the drug was accidentally taken orally, the following symptoms may occur: headache, vomiting, drowsiness, lowering blood pressure. In this situation, recommended gastric lavage (only for an hour after taking), the reception of activated charcoal, alkaline drink, forced diuresis, symptomatic therapy.
Interactions with other drugs
Drug interactions ibuprofen gel with other drugs have not been described.
It should be borne in mind that even with local use ibuprofen completely impossible to exclude its systemic effect and, theoretically, while the use of ibuprofen gel with other NSAIDs may increase side effects.
Special instruction
To avoid preparation hit in eyes, on lips and other mucous membranes, inflamed or damaged skin.
Do not use in combination with an occlusive (airtight) medical armband.
To avoid excessive direct sunlight on the area of application of the drug.
Patients with impaired renal function, bronchial asthma before using the drug should consult a doctor.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and other potentially dangerous machinery
Patients who experience dizziness, drowsiness, inhibition or visual impairment should avoid driving or driving mechanisms when taking drugs containing ibuprofen.
