The composition and form of issue:

Nasal spray. 1 ml contains Oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg

auxiliary substances: camphor racemic menthol evkaliptola sodium phosphate disodium, sodium edetate (Trilon B), benzalkonium chloride propylene glycol purified water

Description pharmaceutical form:

Colorless or slightly yellowish, transparent liquid with a specific smell.

Description pharmacological action:

Oxymetazoline hydrochloride causes vasoconstriction of the mucous membranes of the nose, paranasal sinuses and the Eustachian tube, which causes a soft and long-lasting reduction in the swelling and leads to relief of nasal breathing. Relief of nasal breathing occurs within 5-10 min after injection into the cavity of the nose and lasts for about 10-12 hours.

Indications:

To facilitate nasal breathing in case of:

• colds
  
• flu
  
• respiratory viral infections
  
• acute rhinitis
  
• sinusitis.
  

Contraindications:

• hypersensitivity to the drug
  
• atrophic rhinitis
  
• pregnancy, lactation
  
• children up to age 6 years.
  

Caution: diseases of the cardiovascular system (hypertension, ischemic heart disease, congestive heart failure, tachycardia, arrhythmia) angle-closure glaucoma, hyperthyroidism diabetes mellitus pheochromocytoma chronic renal failure, simultaneous reception of MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants.

Application of pregnancy and breast-feeding:

During pregnancy and breastfeeding the drug should be prescribed only if clearly needed, when the benefits to the mother exceed the risk to the fetus or child.

Side effects:

Temporary dryness and irritation of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, dry mouth and throat, sneezing, increase in the volume of secretion produced from nose. May experience increased blood pressure, increased anxiety, nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, palpitations, sleep disturbances. With long — term use tachyphylaxis, reactive hyperemia mucous membrane (sense of congestion) and atrophy of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity.

Drug interactions:

Overdose or ingestion of Oxymetazoline and receiving tricyclic antidepressants or MAO inhibitors at the same time or immediately prior to application of Oxymetazoline can cause increased blood pressure.

Slows the absorption of local anaesthetic drugs, extends the effect.

Joint appointment other vasoconstrictor drugs increases the risk of side effects.

Method of application and dose:
