Pharmacological action

Antimicrobial, antiseptic, distracting, hypolipidemic. Iodine coagulates proteins with the formation of Iodinol. Partially absorbed. Absorbed part penetrates into tissues and organs, is selectively absorbed by the thyroid gland. Excreted by the kidneys (mainly), intestine, sweat and mammary glands. Iodine has bactericidal activity, has tanning and cauterizing properties. Annoyed receptors skin and mucous membranes. Involved in the synthesis of thyroxine, strengthens the processes of dissimilation, a favorable effect on lipid and protein metabolism (decreased cholesterol and LDL).

Testimony

Inflammatory and other diseases of the skin and mucous membranes, abrasions, cuts, minor injuries, myositis, neuralgia, inflammatory infiltrates, atherosclerosis, syphilis (tertiary), chronic atrophic laryngitis, ozena, hyperthyroidism, endemic goiter, chronic poisoning by lead and mercury, disinfection of the skin of the surgical field, wound edges, the fingers of the surgeon.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, for oral — pulmonary tuberculosis, nephritis, abrasions, acne, chronic pyoderma, hemorrhagic diathesis, urticaria, pregnancy, child age (up to 5 years).

Method of application and doses

Iodine is taken topically — lubricate the affected areas of the skin, larynx, nose buried in (for 5 drops 2 times a day), into the conjunctival SAC (1 drop 3 times a day). Iodine is taken orally, after meals, in milk, in atherosclerosis — 5-12 drops 1-2 times a day for a month, repeated courses (2-3 times a year), while syphilis — 5-50 drops 2-3 times a day, children 3-5 drops of 5% solution 2-3 times a day.

Side effects

Iodism (runny nose, skin rashes on the type of urticaria, salivation, lacrimation, etc.).
