Description pharmaceutical form:

Capsules: blue, hard gelatin, size , containing white granular powder.

Ointment: light brown.

Feature:

Combined drug that regulates the metabolism of cartilage.

Pharmacokinetics:

Glucosamine sulfate. In oral administration the bioavailability after the "first pass" through the liver — 25%.

The fraction of glucosamine, which is not metabolized or bound to plasma proteins, mainly excreted with urine. Most of the drug, detectable in the stool after ingestion, is neabsorbirowawrzayasa faction. The final T1/2 of the drug associated with plasma proteins — 68 h

Chondroitin sulfate. The ingestion of chondroitin sulphate a single dose of 0.8 g (or 2 times a day in a dose of 0.4 g), the concentration of chondroitin sulfate in the plasma increases dramatically for 24 h. the Absolute bioavailability of 12%.

Low molecular weight chondroitin sulfate is metabolized by desulfuromonas.

Chondroitin sulfate is excreted in the urine. T1/2 — 310 min.

Description pharmacological action:

Glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate involved in the biosynthesis of connective tissue and because of this can help prevent processes of destruction of cartilage and stimulate regeneration of tissue. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

Glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate — aminosaccharides, which is the structural basis of cartilage, intervertebral disc and articular cartilage:

  • glycosaminoglycans (mucopolysaccharides) in the extracellular matrix of cartilage, providing functions of elasticity and sliding of the articular surfaces
  • carbohydrate groups of the collagen fibers cartilage — type II (fibrous), type VI (microfibrillar), IX type (basic) and type XI (s), providing the elasticity and strength of cartilage.

Glucosamine sulfate. Introduction of exogenous glucosamine increases the production of cartilage matrix and provides nonspecific protection against chemical damage of the cartilage. Glucosamine as sulfate can be used to articular cartilage the precursor of hexosamine, and the sulfate - anion is necessary for the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans. Another possible function of glucosamine is to protect damaged cartilage from metabolic destruction caused by NSAIDs and corticosteroids, as well as a mild anti-inflammatory action.

Chondroitin sulfate. Regardless of whether he is absorbed in intact form or in the form of individual components, provides additional substrate for the formation of healthy cartilage matrix. Chondroitin sulfate and its derivatives stimulate the formation gialuronon, the synthesis of proteoglycans and type II collagen, and protects hyaluronan from enzymatic degradation (by inhibiting the activity of hyaluronidase) and from the damaging effects of free radicals. Chondroitin sulfate supports the viscosity of synovial fluid, stimulates cartilage repair mechanisms and inhibits the activity of those enzymes (elastase, hyaluronidase) that break down cartilage. Chondroitin sulfate in the treatment of osteoarthritis relieves symptoms of the disease and reduces the need for NSAIDs.
