The composition and form of issue:
Tablets, film-coated. 1 tablet contains active substance:
Metformin hydrochloride 500, 800 or 1000 mg
auxiliary substances: povidone K30— 13,8/23,5/31,6 mg povidone K90— 13,3/22,6/22,6 mg silicon dioxide, colloidal— 1,2/2,02/4 mg of magnesium stearate— 2,7/4,6/5,4 mg shell Opadry white Y-1-7000H (gironella (E464) — 10/16,9/20 mg titanium dioxide (E171) — 5/8,4/10 mg macrogol 400 — 1/1,7/2 mg)
in blister PVC/UN/aluminum foil 10 PCs., in a cardboard pack of 3 or 6 blisters.
Method of application and dose:
Inside, during or immediately after a meal.
Monotherapy and combination therapy with other oral hypoglycemic agents
The initial dose of 500-1000 mg 1 time per day in the evening. 7-15 days when lack of adverse effects from the gastrointestinal tract is prescribed at 500-1000 mg 2 times a day morning and evening. Possible further gradual increase in dose depending on the glucose concentration in the blood.
The maintenance dose is 1500-2000 mg/day. To reduce the side effects from the gastrointestinal tract, the dose should be divided into 2-3 reception. Maximum daily dose of 3000 mg/day in 3 divided doses.
Slow increase of dose may improve gastrointestinal tolerability.
Patients taking Metformin at doses of 2000-3000 mg/day, can be translated into a dose of 1000 mg. Maximum recommended dose of 3000 mg/day in 3 divided doses.
If transition to therapy with other hypoglycemic drugs should stop taking other remedy and to start taking the drug Metformin-Teva in the dose mentioned above.
Combination with insulin
The drug Metformin-Teva and insulin can be used as a combined therapy to achieve better glycemic control.
The drug is given in a usual initial dose of 500 or 850 mg 2-3 times a day. The dose of insulin selected on the basis of measurement results of blood glucose. After 10-15 days, the dose is adjusted depending on the concentration of glucose in the blood.
The maximum dose of Metformin in the combined treatment of 2 g/day 2-3 reception.
In elderly patients the daily dose should not exceed 1000 mg/day.
