Special instructions

You should take appropriate precautions in the case of applying the ointment on large areas of skin or the intended long-term use (especially when used in Pediatrics). Due to the fact that the ratio of the surface of the skin and body weight in children is higher than adults, children may exhibit a higher sensitivity to the action of corticosteroids than adults, with the appearance they have signs of suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and manifestations of Cushing's syndrome. Ointment is not recommended to use with an occlusive dressing, including nappies and diapers. The drug is not intended for use on the face or in the groin area and underarms. The ointment should not be used in ophthalmology. Children should receive a minimum number of GKS needed to achieve the effect. Long-term therapy with the use of corticosteroids can have an adverse effect on the growth and development of children. In case of irritation, including excessive dryness of the skin and the appearance of allergic reactions, discontinue use of the drug Mamut and assign the appropriate treatment. If you develop a related skin infection, use the necessary anti-fungal or antibacterial agent. If a positive response when treatment is not reached quickly, the use of the drug Momat-should be interrupted until until the infection is properly removed. You must assess the risk and expected effect of the drug Momat-in the case of the following diseases: diabetes, injury or inflammation of peripheral blood vessels, irritation or infection of the skin. Corticosteroids can cause a change in the appearance of the affected skin, which complicates the correct diagnosis and leads to slower recovery.

Composition

100 mg contain mometasone furoate 0.1 g,

auxiliary substances: paraffin (soft white), white beeswax, propylene glycol monostearate.

Method of application and doses

Externally, to apply a thin layer to affected skin 1 time a day. The duration of treatment is determined by its effectiveness and tolerability of the patient, the presence and severity of side effects.

Side effects

Burning, itching, tingling and tingling, paresthesia, folliculitis, pustular rash, skin atrophy, hypertrichosis, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of skin, secondary infection, striae, miliaria.

Drug interactions

The local application of the drug Momat-observed the presence of small but measurable quantities of salicylates in the blood plasma. According to published data on the interaction of salicylates with other substances after ingestion or application to the skin, you can change the following medicinal compounds: tolbutamide (butamid), methotrexate, heparin, pirazinamida, means which promote the excretion of uric acid, and drugs, indirect anticoagulants. Other corticosteroids and ammonium sulfate can affect the content of salicylic acid. These interactions should be borne in mind in the appointment of Momat-together with these compounds.

Overdose

Prolonged use of corticosteroids for local application in excessive amounts can lead to suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and secondary adrenal insufficiency. If there is suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, it is necessary to discontinue the application of ointment or reduce the frequency of applications. In the case of toxicity caused by salicylic acid, the use of the drug Momat-should be discontinued. To stimulate output with urine salicylates should be administered fluids. As necessary, you can assign oral or/with the introduction of alkaline sodium and potassium salts.
