Composition and form of issue:
Lozenges. 1 lozenge contains:
peppermint oil 1 mg
eucalyptus oil 0, 6 mg
levomenthol 1, 2 mg
thymol 0, 6 mg
benzalkonium chloride 1 mg
excipients: lactose monohydrate paraffin liquid glycerol castor oil defoamer 1510 sorbitol dextrose (glucose) liquid (dry matter) magnesium stearate dye quinoline yellow (E104) dye indigocarmin blue (E132) titanium dioxide (E171) povidone wax emulsion sucrose
blistere in 10 or 15 PCs in a carton 2 or 3 blisters.
Description of dosage form:
Round biconvex lozenge is light green in color with possible patches of white.
Description of pharmacological action:
Septolete lozenges contain benzalkonium chloride and thymol, which have antiseptic properties (active against gram-positive bacteria, have a fungicidal effect on Candida albicans and some lipophilic viruses).
Menthol and essential oil of peppermint have a moderate analgesic and deodorizing effect.
Eucalyptus essential oil reduces mucus secretion in the upper respiratory tract and facilitates breathing.
Indications:
Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat:
- pharyngitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis
- inflammation of the gums and oral mucosa (gingivitis, stomatitis).
Contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to the drug components
- child age (up to 4 years)
- deficiency of the enzyme lactase, galactosemia or malabsorption syndrome glucose/galactose or deficiency of the enzyme isomaltase, congenital fructose intolerance.
Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Pregnant and breast-feeding women can take pastille Septolete only on the advice of a doctor.
Side effect:
From the digestive system: nausea, diarrhea.
Allergic reactions are possible (in patients with increased sensitivity to the components of the drug).
Drug interaction:
Benzalkonium chloride is not recommended for use with other antiseptics intended for resorption in the oral cavity.
Dosage and administration:
Dissolve in the mouth (slowly) until completely dissolved, every 2-3 hours.
Children over 4 years are recommended to take up to 4 lozenges per day, older than 10 years — up to 6 lozenges per day.
Adults and children over 12 years — up to 8 lozenges per day.
Do not take the lozenges immediately before eating and with milk.
Overdose:
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The possibility of overdose is minimal.
Treatment: symptomatic.
Special instruction:
Patients with diabetes should remember that each lozenge contains 174, 5 mg of sugar (sucrose, glucose).
It is recommended to refrain from simultaneous administration of Septolete with milk, because milk reduces the antiseptic effect of benzalkonium chloride.
1 pastille Septolete contains 218 mg of lactose, 623, 575 mg of sucrose, 152, 7 mg of sorbitol, so the drug should not be taken by patients with lactase deficiency, deficiency of sucrose isomaltase, galactosemia, malabsorption syndrome of glucose/galactose or congenital intolerance to fructose, because it can cause digestive disorders.
Influence on the ability to drive and other mechanical means. Pastilles do not affect the ability to drive and other mechanical means.
